The Los Angeles Dodgers boasted that the team had taken a stand by blocking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from access to their stadium grounds, but their claim may have been more virtue signaling than reality.
With violent anti-ICE riots erupting in L.A., the hometown Major League Baseball team has been criticized by leftists for not taking a public stand against the Trump administration’s enforcement of federal immigration law, wisely choosing to avoid stirring up controversy.
But on Thursday, the reigning World Series champions announced that they had denied agents access to the parking lots, suggesting that they stopped a raid before the game against the San Diego Padres later in the day.
This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled.

“This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight’s game will be played as scheduled,” the organization declared in a post to social media.
The team’s announcement drew high praise from the national media, even though it looks like a hoax that could have been concocted to placate activists.
In a rejection of the Dodgers’ claim, DHS set the record straight.
This had nothing to do with the Dodgers.
CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly, unrelated to any operation or enforcement. https://t.co/nsQ8LNaHbb

“This had nothing to do with the Dodgers,” the agency said in a post to X. “CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly, unrelated to any operation or enforcement.”
ICE Los Angeles also debunked the team’s fake news.
False. We were never there. https://t.co/ddvCYzPb3h

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin shared a video of the CBP agents, who were obviously not ICE, with the giveaway being the lettering on their vests that the Dodgers’ social media team conveniently ignored.
That would be Border Patrol. The giveaway might be bright gold BORDER PATROL written on the vest, but what would I know! https://t.co/6TyrbC5dAX

This week, the team found itself at the center of attention when a Latino singer hijacked the national anthem to make a political statement by singing the song in Spanish after being warned not to do so.
NEW: Dodgers National Anthem singer sings in Spanish after being told not to, starts crying during a “story time” while talking about how great of a person she is.
‘Baby Nezza’ said she decided to sing in Spanish because of the ICE raids.

The Dodgers have once again been burned for choosing to take a side with leftists. The team was widely condemned for mocking the Catholic faith when it honored the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of drag queen “nuns” who specialize in blasphemous performances, during their Pride Night celebration two years ago.
The team went on to drop Thursday’s contest 5-3 to the hated division rivals but the bigger loss may be in public relations.
