Disgraced ex-FBI boss Comey gets subpoenaed

Disgraced former FBI director James Comey has been subpoenaed by federal prosecutors in Florida as part of a wide-ranging probe into a prior investigation of the Russian collusion hoax perpetrated by Democrats during the 2016 election.

At least 130 subpoenas have reportedly been issued in the Florida probe since last year, with the list including former CIA Director John Brennan, who is accused of lying in a congressional deposition concerning the Steele Dossier in 2023, and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Former FBI lovebirds Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were also subpoenaed — the ill-fated former couple infamous for the anti-Trump text messages they shared.

The wide-ranging “grand conspiracy” case, being led by Jason A. Reding Quiñones, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, “posits that Democratic officials bent the rules, broke the law and lied under oath to investigate, prosecute and otherwise undermine Trump from his election in 2016 through his federal indictments in 2023,” Axios reported.

Comey’s subpoena is related to “his alleged role in the drafting of a January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) concerning Russia’s election interference that favored Trump,” the outlet noted.

Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered the investigation into actions surrounding the 2016 election, according to NBC News, which further reported, “While the statute of limitations would normally bar a probe into actions from a decade ago, Trump allies have argued that officials they believe were part of a conspiracy took steps in furtherance of a conspiracy within the five-year statute of limitations.”

As for what to expect, during his December 2018 closed-door testimony on the FBI’s 2016 Trump campaign “investigation,” Comey answered House investigators’ questions with “I don’t know” 152 times, “I don’t remember” 66 times, and “I don’t recall” 8 times, according to WBMA. The Trump-hating former FBI chief is reportedly known for taking copious notes.
