Disgraced, fired reporter denies being drunk when trash-talking Stephen Miller

Alcohol makes people do stupid things, like fight in a Waffle House parking lot or text their ex. But apparently, spirits were not to blame for an ABC News reporter’s firing.

On June 8, Terry Moran posted a venomous message about President Donald Trump’s aide Stephen Miller. In it, Moran throws all concepts of objective journalism out the window and makes clear his bias against the current administration. The message was shared by Vice President JD Vance, who called for an apology from the news outlet.

Look:

“The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism,” Moran’s post reads. “Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller.”

“It’s not brains. It’s bile,” the screed continues. “Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”

“Trump is also a world-class hater. But his hatred is only a means to an end, and that end [is] his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment,” Moran concludes.

Moran was fired from his position at ABC News after the backlash became too hot to handle, but that wasn’t enough to make him regret what he had posted. In a New York Times piece on his decision to hit “send” on the controversial tweet, Moran insists he wasn’t drunk, as many social media users had posited.

“It wasn’t a drunk tweet.”

“I wrote it, and I said, ‘That’s true,’” he said.

He insisted that leading up to the posting of the message, he had a “normal family night” which did not include alcohol.

Social media users had a lot to say:
