The family of Sheridan Gorman, a college student who was killed by an illegal alien in March, remains deeply affected by her loss.
“It was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” Gorman’s mother, Jess, told Fox News in an interview this week while talking about having to deal with and process her daughter’s death. “And one of the things that’s so hard is this devastating darkness has just come over me.”‘
“It’s a combination of grief and anger and hate. Those are feelings I’ve never felt before. And you wake up every day, and I fear that I’m going to have that in my heart forever. And I can’t,” she added.

“I thought the first day, with the police coming to our door and falling to my knees, I thought that was the worst, but every day is worse. I have to walk by her bedroom, our dogs lay on her bed all day…” 💔

Gorman, a Loyola University student, was gunned down in March by a Venezuelan illegal alien, Jose Medina-Medina, who’d been released from custody months earlier after an arrest for shoplifting in Chicago despite immigration officials having placed a detainer on him.
“Medina-Medina is accused of approaching her while wearing a mask and armed with a gun,” according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) press release. “As she attempted to flee, he fired his gun and shot her. Gorman was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.”
According to DHS, Medina-Medina was also previously released after being caught crossing into the U.S. by the Biden administration.
In her interview with Fox News, Jess described encountering Medina-Medina for the first time in court.
“I remember sitting there — sitting between my husband and one of my best friends, Cleo — and I was clutching their hands for dear life, holding on, and before he came, I was envisioning myself jumping over the bench in front of me, screaming out loud, just why!? Like, why?” she said.
“Our biggest fear is this going to happen to someone else. I pray every day. I don’t believe I have any enemies. But if I did, I wouldn’t wish this on them. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. This is a heartbreak,” she added.
What really galls her and her other daughter, Madelon, is the reaction from Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Alderman Maria Hadden. Johnson called Gorman’s death the result of “senseless violence,” while Hadden said she was at “the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Neither claim was true:

“This was preventable — it should have never happened,” Madelon noted in the clip above.
“Someone said, ‘wrong place, wrong time,’ the alderwoman, and actually, suggested that she might have startled this man, and that just, it flays me,” Jess said. “It just lays my heart wide open. My daughter was not in the wrong place at the wrong time—this man was.”
In another clip, Madelon spoke about how Gorman was supposed to be her maid of honor.
“She was supposed to be my maid of honor, one day, right beside me,” the sister revealed. “I’m supposed to be the aunt of her children. It’s something you never, ever expect to happen to you, to happen to your sibling, your best friend, your daughter.”

At one point in the interview, Jess slammed Chicago officials for naming a city snowplow “Abolish ICE.”
“When they’re naming trucks and laughing and joking several days after our daughter was murdered, we’re waiting in Chicago to claim her body,” she said. “It was more than infuriating. I don’t have, the vitriol that I felt was overwhelming.”
Jess also slammed people for defending Medina-Medina.
“They claimed he doesn’t understand English and has the mentality of a small child — so he can’t stand trial,” she said. “I saw him stand in the courtroom. He can stand. A small child doesn’t buy an illegal gun. A small child doesn’t stand at the end of a pier and execute someone.”
