Dog whistle for more? Top Senate Dem cryptically warns ‘Something dark might be coming’

A sitting senator’s ominous warning that “Something dark might be coming” after Charlie Kirk’s assassination came equipped with gaslighting amid his own calls for “mobilization.”

“… you have to be willing to do whatever is necessary …”

No amount of denials can conceal the fact that leftist ghouls have been out in force since Wednesday to celebrate that a 31-year-old Christian, father, and husband was assassinated for his beliefs. While the prominent voices on the right call for unity and host prayer vigils in Kirk’s honor, Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy (D) redoubled efforts to demonize President Donald Trump and conservatives with calls to “join the fight.”

Kicking off a thread that leveraged a report from the New York Times that argued white supremacist incidents were on the rise after downplaying dark money financier George Soros as little more than a “wealthy political critic” of the president, the senator responded to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller’s remarks about his last message from Charlie Kirk.

“Pay attention. Something dark might be coming. The murder of Charlie Kirk could have united Americans to confront political violence. Instead, Trump and his anti-democratic radicals look to be readying a campaign to destroy dissent,” contended Murphy.

As was reported, Miller indicated that his last message from the Turning Point USA founder was about the need to “dismantle and take on the radical left organizations in this country that are fomenting violence.”

Despite that, the senator disregarded the history of elected Democrats’ dangerous rhetoric while pointing to public statements that condemned the assassination before cherry-picking a statement from independent journalist Laura Loomer as though it were representative of a unified right.

He then claimed the “narrative that Dems are cheering Kirk’s murder or that left groups are fomenting violence is also made up,” only days after California Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) argued their peers “cannot take responsibility for the minds that are out there and how they hear” the incendiary rhetoric that they use.

“I hope I’m wrong. But we need to be prepared if I’m right. That means everyone who cares about democracy has to join the fight — right now. Join a mobilization or protest group. Start showing up to actions more. Write a check to a progressive media operation,” concluded Murphy.

Unfortunately for the senator, his record, like that of his fellow Democrats, stands prominently for itself as users on social media contrast the “fiery but mostly peaceful protests” from the left with mourners gathering in prayer on the right. This includes remarks made only days before Kirk’s assassination, where Murphy said to Chuck Todd in an interview, “We’re in a war right now to save this country. And so you have to be willing to do whatever is necessary in order to save the country.”
