‘Dollar Store Obama’ pines for the good old days of Paul Ryan, John Boehner

U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is nostalgic for the good old days.

It’s no surprise that the New York Democrat opined on his party’s seeming glory days and times on Capitol Hill when Republicans were weak and led by ineffective leaders like John Boehner and Paul Ryan.

“It’s not the party of John McCain, John Boehner, or Paul Ryan,” he told attendees at an Illinois County Chairs’ Association brunch where Jeffries was the keynote speaker at the annual event.

“It’s the party of Marjorie Taylor Greene,” he continued as the audience let out a boo at the mention of the Georgia Republican’s name.

Jeffries went on to name Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, and others before quipping, “Who knew I would miss John BOehner and Paul Ryan so much?”

The Democrat crowd ate it up, laughing at his jab at the RINOs (Republican In Name Only) and former GOP House Speakers.

Jeffries, often referred to as ‘Dollar Store Obama,’ sparked lively reactions on social media, where users reminded that President Donald Trump took out many of the RINOs with his election victory and voters do not want them back – unless you are a Democrat.

Jeffries took time to trash Trump during his speech and roll out the usual warnings about the end of democracy under his authoritarian second term as president.

“The first six months of the Trump administration have been a debacle,” he declared.

“They’re stealing food from the mouths of children, veterans, and seniors, and all of this is being done so they can enact massive tax breaks for their billionaire donors who don’t need it,” Jeffries said. “This is what House Republicans have done.”

Reactions on X noted the lack of fire that Jeffries seemed to ignite under the crowd.
