A pollster who recently spent a week touring Georgia has created a new term, “double disapprovers,” to describe the voters he met who dislike both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
His name is James Johnson, and he works with J.L. Partners, a polling company. Writing for the Washington Examiner earlier this month, he described the types of “double disapprover” voters he met while touring the state.
One “double disapprover” was named Nicholas, and according to Johnson, though he voted for Biden in 2020, he’s since turned against the president.
“He declared that he ran as a Democrat but he’s going to be an American president. But he’s been very, very … it’s sad to say, but he’s been very polarizing. He did not unite the country at all,” Nicholas told the pollster.
Yet he doesn’t care for Trump either.
“Nicholas … says a Trump second term would be one of impeachments, social strife, an emboldened Putin, and bitter revenge,” Johnson noted in his piece.

Speaking with the Daily Mail about his findings, Johnson said the 2024 race “is shaping up to be the election that no one wants —Â but that voters suspect they will probably end up with anyway.”
“The voters I spoke to in Georgia were utterly despondent at the idea of a Trump-Biden rematch which they felt summed up the worst aspects of America and its politics. They yearn for ‘more love, less anger’ and a ‘Christmas truce’ for America, but they know deep-down they will be getting the divisions that both candidates bring along with them,” he added.
Next up is Gabriel, a 23-year-old biracial man who grew up with his black grandmother. According to him, the black community is slowly but surely waking up to the actual truth about Trump as they’re likewise being redpilled about Biden..
“The African American community … they’re waking up. Even on TikTok or Facebook, it used to be like, ‘Oh, you’ll become Uncle Tom,’ ‘You’ll become white’ if you vote Republican. But people are now seeing that Democrat ways don’t help and that Donald Trump actually did more to help them out than what the Democrats claim to do,” he told Johnson.
However, he still thinks Trump is an “asshole” — albeit one who at least isn’t as far-left as President Biden.
“It’s people doing the extreme stuff … on the left,” he told Johnson, describing why he and other black Americans are now standing more and more against the current president, though they’re not necessarily standing with Trump either.

“‘Their enthusiasm for Biden is very low, and some black and biracial voters told me that the left-wing extremes of the Democrat Party are turning them away and towards Trump,” Johnson said to the Daily Mail in regard to black voting habits.
“‘There’s little doubt that Biden would win big again with African Americans overall but just a small decline in how much they turn out to vote – or even the most minor shift to Trump – would put the race firmly in Republican territory. For now apathy rules the day in Georgia, and that helps Trump in this most unsavory of match-ups,” he added.
Next up is Christy. She voted for Biden in 2020 and is willing to vote for him again, but she’s certainly no longer feeling him anymore.
“He’s a placeholder. And I don’t think he was the person to do it. You needed a stronger candidate than him and we didn’t get one. In part because he is older. And part because he seems like more of a background player all the time,” she said.
She doesn’t feel too great about Trump either.
“He’s the only president I’ve ever seen go into office, then come out of it looking exactly the same. He didn’t age at all. What was he doing in there? Not a damn thing,” she claimed.
Next is Frank, an independent who’s not happy with Biden, but who isn’t thrilled at the prospect of another Trump presidency either.
“I thought it was, on one hand, one of the best presidencies of my life, because Trump somehow basically was able to do the economic turnaround,” he said of Trump’s first round in office.
“But on the other hand, one of the worst presidencies of my life, because at that point, everything seemed like there was this huge split because of the intense hatred against him,” he added.
That said, his hope is that Trump loses the GOP primary election and another contender takes the spot.
“I wish there was somebody else with a little bit less ego, and a little bit smaller mouth, or a little bit more control over his mouth, that held to the same type of policies, but was a little bit more dignified,” he said.
Then there’s Eric, a college professor who voted for Trump in 2024 but is itching to vote for anybody else but him or Biden in 2024. And lastly is Joseph, a 53-year-old veteran who considers himself a Democrat but one who doesn’t care for Biden.
“He’s definitely not a Bill Clinton. You know, everybody loved Bill Clinton. I’m so glad we have a Democrat in the White House. But you know, I didn’t throw Biden bumper stickers on my cars,” he said.
