DWS claims America ‘can’t afford’ to spend millions deporting illegal aliens

A Democrat congresswoman shifted from failing to flailing on illegal aliens as she attempted to drop a new spin on expenses and what it means to be “America First.”

On top of restoring affordability and tackling rampant waste, fraud and abuse while negotiating for peace across the globe, President Donald Trump has made restoring American national sovereignty a top priority of his second administration.

Having spent much of 2025 protesting Trump’s mass deportations, including a government shutdown tied to funding health care for illegal aliens, House Democratic Steering Committee chair Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz angled for her party to redefine “America First” while insisting booting foreign nationals costs more money than it saves.

Appearing on MS Now in a clip highlighted by the X account Western Lensman, the congresswoman argued, “Trump’s most popular issue is immigration and … the undocumented immigration that he says is a violent threat to our nation when most people who they are deporting are not criminals and are simply here — who are being rounded up — two weekends ago they rounded up 200 people just by stopping lawn care trucks in the neighborhood right near my own home.”

“Is that who we fear in this country? Or is it that we want to make sure that we keep this country safe and that we can focus on — America First to me means taking care of people at home and making life affordable when it comes to rent, and healthcare, and utilities and insuring that they, Americans can keep the better life that they deserve,” she went on, “not have Trump go after people and waste millions of dollars, hundreds of millions of dollars deporting people from this country.”

As the X account suggested, “Democrats spent untold billions importing, housing, feeding and catering to millions of illegals and now want to tell you it just costs too darn much to send them back. Unreal. GTFOOH with this garbage, [Wasserman Schultz].”

Beyond the absurd attempt to further defend open borders policies that advance the opioid epidemic, facilitate violent crimes against citizens that otherwise would not happen, perpetuate the traffic of people — including children — and leave the nation at risk from potential terrorist attacks in the name of cheap labor, it was clear to many that the pitch from the congresswoman was a desperate reach in messaging in defense of a losing argument.

“Democrats claiming they are better at America First is an acknowledgment they’re losing the persuasion argument. Their home turf and comfort zone is to completely reject the term ‘America First’ in favor of globalism,” the X account IT Guy responded, while another account contended amid mockery of Wassmerman Schulz’s style, “According to the world’s first talking poodle, it’s OK to spend billions on processing, housing, feeding and educating criminal aliens, but it’s a ‘waste of money’ to deport them, and open up all that housing, employment, education and assistance to struggling Americans.”
