Hasan Piker gets a Rolling Stone makeover critics aren’t buying

Some news organizations are pushing back on Democratic candidates with ties to progressive streamer Hasan Piker, but others are taking a different route.

Rolling Stone published a glowing article asking, “Why is Everyone Scared of Hasan Piker?” While it admitted that he has made some “incendiary” statements, specifically about Israel, it overall tried to paint him as a sympathetic figure by highlighting his claims about outlets like The New York Post and Fox News.

Look:

“Why Is Everyone Scared of Hasan Piker?” the caption reads, adding that his “incendiary clips about Israel have brought flak from both sides of the aisle. But what he wants, he says, is to make people listen.”

“A self-described Marxist with an NSF MS NOW vocabulary, [Piker] has become famous as a peddler of incendiary takes — not so much moving the Overton window as throwing a brick through it,” they admit.

“I stream for eight hours a day, seven days a week. I’m gonna say some dumb shit,” the streamer told the outlet, in explanation for his radical takes.

“As Hasan Piker’s audience has grown, he’s also become a target. The New York Post sent a drone to photograph his house; he says Fox News has someone whose sole job is to watch his stream and take notes,” the piece continues.

“I’m like the new transgender or the War Against Christmas,” Piker said.

X users had a lot to say, especially fellow Twitch streamer Asmongold:
