Trump sings praises of ‘fascinating man’ Fetterman after Mar-a-Lago meeting

President-elect Donald Trump is singing the praises of the right’s most unlikely Democrat ally, Sen. John Fetterman.

Fetterman has proven to be quite the surprise, going from laughingstock to thoughtful pragmatist. So it comes as no surprise that he would eventually meet with the incoming president in Mar-a-Lago and that Trump would end up praising him more than some Republicans in Congress.

“It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely,” Trump said of Fetterman in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed.”

“He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful,” the president-elect continued.

When confronted by Capitol Hill reporters on why he traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump, Fetterman joked that he “demand[ed] that I need to be made pope of Greenland.” In a separate response to the Daily Mail, he simply said, “President Trump invited me to meet, and I accepted.”

“I’m the senator for all Pennsylvanians – not just Democrats in Pennsylvania. I’ve been clear that no one is my gatekeeper,” he added. “I will meet with and have a conversation with anyone if it helps me deliver for Pennsylvania and the nation.”

He reiterated this sentiment in an X post, responding to a headline about the meeting.

X users had a lot to say to the senator:
