El-Sayed aide sees a pickup truck — and somehow gets to the KKK

One of Abdul El-Sayed’s staffers had an insane reaction to Republican opponent Mike Rogers’ pickup ad.

On Sunday, the Republican’s campaign released a video of him riding in an antique Ford with American flags and a “Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate” poster on the side, overlaid with Toby Keith’s “American Ride.”

Watch:

“Gotta love this American Ride! There’s no better way to do the Woodward Dream Cruise!” Rogers could be heard saying in the video.

But not everyone liked the video. Mason Pressler, a political manager in the northern part of Michigan for El-Sayed’s campaign, drew a horrific comparison between the ad and “a KKK cross burning.”

“Mike Rogers’ campaign has the aesthetics of a 1960s white flight suburb and a KKK cross burning,” Pressler wrote.

It didn’t take long for the Republican’s campaign to fire back on X.

“Hmmm, [El-Sayed]’s staffer thinks driving a Michigan-made Ford truck is akin to the KKK…” a rapid-response account for Rogers said.
