Elderly actor Danny Trejo brawls with ‘coward’ over water balloon thrown at his car during 4th parade

Actor Danny Trejo was involved in a fight during a Fourth of July parade that apparently started over what appears to be a violation of water balloon ethics.

The incident occurred at the Sunland-Tujunga Independence Day Parade in Los Angeles and was captured on video.

Trejo, 80, is seen getting out of a vintage baby blue convertible that reportedly belongs to him and confronting a man after a water balloon was reportedly thrown. Punches were quickly exchanged, with the “Machete” star appearing to throw hands first.

A quick scuffle ensues, and Trejo is seen falling backward to the ground.  A friend runs over to assist, and he is quickly bloodied with a blow to the head from another man. That’s when things escalated into a larger brawl. Trejo gets back up at one point and is seen grabbing a folding chair and throwing it at someone.

The irony here is that, according to an eyewitness, the parade is famous for its water balloon battles.

“This parade is like a thing where you throw water balloons back and forth at each other,” witness Stanley Herrarte told ABC7. “The reason why Danny was so infuriated was because usually people don’t throw water balloons at fancy cars when they come by.”

Trejo told TMZ that the water balloon being thrown at his classic car was “childish,” and he called the people who threw it at him “cowards.”

There were reportedly no arrests, even though much of the brawl was caught on camera. Then again, this is lawless LA, home to soft-on-crime, George Soros-backed district attorney George Gascón.

Still, social media users were equally impressed and mortified that at the age of 80, Trejo is throwing hands.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
