Elissa Slotkin says she’s being attacked because she’s a woman — critics aren’t buying her explanation

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., says her gender has something to do with why people are going after her.

She recently hopped on MSNOW to complain that she is being attacked for “criticizing” the Trump administration, signalling that her gender may play a role in how many are responding to her.

Watch:

“I do think there’s something about being a woman and criticizing them and calling them out on that corruption that really gets under their skin, obviously, or they wouldn’t respond, you know, ‘Remember the Second Amendment, sweetheart,’ or all that crap. But I think that it’s more- it’s not speaking to them; it’s speaking to the people who are potentially going to be asked to follow illegal requests,” she said.

This comes after Slotkin earned herself some backlash for suggesting a Democrat-controlled Congress could use investigations to deter young people from joining the Trump administration.

“I wanna look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president but on the people who enabled him,” she said while speaking at a University of Chicago event. “I want young people coming out of school to say, ‘Should I go work for the Trump administration?’ … I want them to be like, ‘Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want. And so let me avoid participating in that.’ I want that deterrence message sent.”
