Twitter CEO Elon Musk has weighed in on the House GOP speaker race that has stretched on for three days.
With Republicans and conservatives thus far unable to compromise on who should take the leadership role, Musk tweeted his opinion early Thursday morning.
“Kevin McCarthy should be Speaker,” the simple message read. He is joined by the likes of former President Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., in supporting McCarthy.
Kevin McCarthy should be Speaker

The debate about who deserves the speakership has elicited strong opinions from people on both sides of the argument, but the vast majority of people responding to Musk’s tweet felt quite differently:
No. Kevin McCarthy embodies everything people hate about politics. He’s unprincipled, dishonest, vindictive, and focused solely on gaining and maintaining power.

Mr. McCarthy would have to agree to significant reform, checks, and restrictions on the powers of the Speaker if he is to win. Left and Right agree the office has grown too powerful in recent years. Americans should call their House members to share their views. 202-225-3121.

Republicans are tired of due to feckless & do-nothing leadership, that’s the concern people want conveyed, and it’s the message the hold outs are conveying.
If McCarthy is truly going to lead and not be a puppet, let’s hear his plan to assuage these concerns vs his attack dogs.

Don’t be a RINO, Elon.
— Lavern Spicer (@lavern_spicer) January 5, 2023
He hasn’t done much since he got into office, so it’s hard to believe he will start now if given the opportunity to be speaker. He needs to step aside, the MAGA republicans are not going to budge on their “No” votes form him to be speaker.

Liberty is the answer. The Constitution – human rights, human freedom.
Justin Amash volunteered to serve as a compromise – he’d be perfect.
Thomas Massie — the ideals of Ron Paul…this is what we desperately need in Washington.

Learn what a RINO is. Then try again. Thx for buying Twitter. pic.twitter.com/vGhOsklUA1
