Embittered McCarthy reportedly on a revenge mission against House GOP foes

Disgraced former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is reportedly seeking revenge on the group of GOP lawmakers who were responsible for his ouster last year.

The California Republican waited years to get his chance to wield the gavel but his tenure as the leader of the House was over only months after it began, a humiliating end that left the embittered RINO seething and looking for payback. He has schemed out a “vengeance operation” to get even.

According to Politico which cites a whopping six anonymous sources for its story, a top ally of the fired speaker is targeting the so-called “Gaetz Eight” by “overseeing” the effort to recruit challengers to run against them in their upcoming primaries.

“These traitors chose to side with Nancy Pelosi, AOC and over 200 Democrats to undermine the institution, their fellow Republicans and a duly elected Speaker,” said Brian O. Walsh in a statement. “There must be consequences for that decision.”

McCarthy’s gunslinging allies reportedly see three lawmakers as being prime targets, Reps. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), Bob Good (R-Va.), and Eli Crane (R-Ariz.), although Crane has yet to draw a “compelling” opponent.

According to Politico, “Walsh is acting with McCarthy’s blessing” with the embittered ex-lawmaker being “briefed on its progress,” along with donors.

“That quiet work shows McCarthy’s appetite for payback remains intense, even months after his October ouster as speaker and December departure from Congress. It also illustrates that even out of office, the former speaker and his supporters can make life miserable for his detractors…,” according to the outlet.

“McCarthy is trying to get somebody,” said Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) “I know he’s been contacting people.”

During a recent Fox News appearance, he scapegoated the conservative Freedom Caucus over the government funding bill, accusing them of “locking in” Nancy Pelosi’s policies and he has repeatedly sniped at Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) who was the driving force behind booting him from the speaker’s chair.

Last year, McCarthy told Politico that Gaetz “belongs in jail” and he also was accused of throwing an elbow at Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) who is another one of the “Gaetz Eight” who sunk his failed speakership.

“One of the most dangerous things that you could do is have an untethered McCarthy,” Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.), one of the ex-speaker’s top lieutenants said.  “In terms of some of the people that have done stupid things over the past several months.”

McCarthy’s vendetta risks giving Democrats a leg-up in retaking the House after he already threw a tantrum and resigned in a huff before his term was over last year. Now it seems that he’ll burn the slim GOP majority down to settle scores.
