‘End white supremacy!’ HS students walk out to protest teacher who warned they were being indoctrinated

A group of disgruntled Kansas high school students staged a walkout Wednesday to protest one of their teacher’s opposition to the school district’s racial essentialist agenda, as well as her opposition to using preferred gender pronouns.

Caedran Sullivan, an English teacher at Shawnee Mission North High School, went viral last month when she wrote a column for the Herzog Foundation’s “The Lion” paper warning that the children at her school were being indoctrinated via the district’s racist “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) agenda.

“SMSD is fostering a toxic environment and requiring employees to attend Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) training and workshops centered around Critical Race Theory, including Black Lives Matter in the Classroom and Social Justice in the Classroom (using teachers’ ‘white privilege,’ ‘white supremacy’ and ‘de-colonizing our classrooms’ propaganda),” she wrote.

“There is repeated white shaming and a preoccupation with white people as the ‘oppressor,’ including staff field trips with a focus on ‘systemic racism.’ The white saviorism and virtue-signaling at DEI meetings is so condescending that many minorities and other staff members have stopped attending,” she added.

SMSD is short for the Shawnee Mission School District.

She also mentioned so-called gender pronouns.

“At a staff meeting this month, we were told we should refer to students by their preferred names and pronouns during the school day, but hide from the parents the fact that their minor children are transitioning at school. The district conceals the transgender policies from the public and will not release the DEI presentations we are compelled to watch,” she wrote.

This was enough to inspire a full-blown walkout replete with signs reading “white shaming isn’t real, cry about it” and “respect my existence or expect resistance.”

“It’s not acceptable that she’s still here, and that she can post all that stuff on the internet, and that’s OK,” Destiney Hall, a student at the school, told local station WDAF.

Local media have for their part automatically sided with the children, with The Kansas City Star going so far as to label Sullivan as “far-right” for daring to call out the district’s racist agenda.

During the walkout Wednesday, several counter-protesters who support Sullivan reportedly showed up. Some of them were adults, and this greatly upset walkout attendee Anylah Jones.

“I don’t know why this is happening with adults being at the school right now. Being an African American, it is very offensive. This should not be happening here, the most diverse school in the Shawnee Mission school district. I find it kind of scary, if I’m being honest. This is a step back,” she said.

Like other indoctrinated students, she believes DEI is a net positive, and that Sullivan’s claims — which have been echoed by plenty of other teachers and parents across the country — are moot and rooted in racism and bigotry.

The same goes for student Laveanna Washington, one of the organizers of the protest.

“For her to say that diversity is white-shaming, I don’t think that’s the point at all. Because you’re in a POC school, you have whites, you have Blacks, you have Indians, Mexicans, people from all different cultures. And you also have people in the LGBTQ+ community,” she told the Star.

“So I think that maybe you need to learn about that. Because while you’re educating us, someone needs to educate you about what’s going on in the world now,” she added.

From the sounds of it, she’s entirely clueless about what DEI really stands for. As documented numerous times, it’s a divisive ideology that states people’s worth is based on the color of their skin.

Indeed, according to DEI, white and Asian people essentially have the most worth and should therefore be discriminated against and mistreated to even things out. Black people, on the other hand, have the least worth and therefore deserve special privileges and perks, again to ostensibly even things out.

As an example, DEI advocates are staunch supporters of affirmative action, a patently racist school admissions policy that punishes aspiring white/Asian students while blessing aspiring black students.

Dovetailing back to the protest, the students “said they wanted to publicly refute Sullivan’s claims in order to show that she doesn’t speak for the entire SM North community,” according to the Shawnee Mission Post.

Yet the children offered zero evidence debunking anything Sullivan had posited. Which was admittedly not surprising, since young and old leftists alike are impressively adept at steering clear of facts and data.
