Enes Kanter Freedom spills details on WNBA showdown with Natasha Cloud that ended in ejection

Support for women was seemingly not welcome in the WNBA, particularly in Chicago, as draft-declared Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected after getting barked at by a player.

As the Indiana Fever and Sophie Cunningham rolled into Chicago on Sunday to roll over the Sky 113-90, they weren’t alone in being confronted with some rainbow madness. Former NBA player Freedom’s decision to attend and support Cunningham and her stand for protecting girls’ and women’s sports found him booted from Wintrust Arena when Sky point guard Natasha Cloud allegedly cussed him out from the court.

Among the moments shared from his eventful attendance, which included wearing a t-shirt that featured the dictionary definition of the noun woman as an “adult human female,” Freedom detailed, “I just got kicked out of a @WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA!”

The assertion followed a viral clip of Cloud screaming at Freedom and pointing her finger as teammates and officials stepped in to hold her back near the end of the third quarter while he stood courtside with his arms extended to either side.

Speaking with OutKick, the former basketballer told his side of the story, recalling, “Sophie Cunningham shot a three, and I put my hands up to celebrate. Literally, a couple possessions later, Natasha came back and starts screaming and yelling and said, ‘She’s not gonna sleep with you.'”

“And I was like, ‘I am not trying to sleep with her. I’m just here to protect women and support her.’ And then, obviously, after that she started yapping, and she started to walk towards me, and literally I just got up, and then I was like, ‘I’m just here to protect women, and that’s all,'” added Freedom.

“She started to yell. She started to use some very heavy language. She started to actually cuss, and I was very shocked that there were a lot of kids and that there were a lot of teenagers at that game,” he explained. “I just cannot believe that she was just cussing and using those F-bombs in front of all these kids. I’m sure she’s loved in Chicago and many kids are idolizing her and stuff, but that’s not how a WNBA athlete should react.”

During the Fever’s last win Tuesday in Toronto, Cunningham appeared to face a passive-aggressive dig from the Tempo when the team revealed its new mascot duo, which included a snapping turtle with short blue hair and “she/they” pronouns.

Meanwhile, compared to Cunningham’s desire to “protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men,” Cloud took to Threads after Sunday’s game to express, “To every trans kid/person, You are part of MY community & tribe. You belong. You’re loved. You’re seen. You’re perfect as you are. & you will always be protected by me.”

Other moments from Sunday included a halftime break posing in front of the women’s restroom and harassment on the way into the game where a man with a small child called him a “b*tch a** n****” while insulting the player’s NBA career. As for the declarations of both Freedom and Royce White for the 2027 WNBA draft, ongoing league discussions featured the statement, “There are no immediate eligibility matters affecting the WNBA and we strongly denounce the bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others.”
