Adopting a no-nonsense attitude on the floor, a GOP senator boiled down the “indefensible” vote Democrats unanimously took in furthering Biden’s border crisis.
“Let me cut through the procedural language here…”
As the left took a victory lap over the weekend, celebrating the passage of a $1.2 trillion omnibus bill, of which many remained oblivious to the actual content, Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty (R) was shining a light on President Joe Biden’s party’s unwillingness to curb the flow of illegal aliens into the country.
In the wake of the administration admitting to flying roughly 320,000 foreign nationals to unspecified locations across the United States in 2023, Hagerty had endeavored to remove the funding for the practice through an amendment that failed to pass with a vote of 47-51.
Taking to X in the early morning Saturday, the lawmaker shared video of his remarks from the floor with the caption, “Tonight every single Senate Democrat voted against my amendment that would stop Biden Admin from using taxpayer dollars to charter flights for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from their countries to American towns to be resettled,” adding, “Indefensible.”
He had expressed on Capitol Hill, “Let me cut through the procedural language here. I’m bringing forward a vote on a very simple question: Do you support American taxpayer dollars being used to fly illegal immigrants from countries like Venezuela and Haiti into America to be settled in towns and cities near you? If so, then vote against me. Vote ‘no’ to preserve the practice of using taxpayer dollars to charter planes that move and import thousands of illegal aliens into your states.”

While the president has endeavored to shift the blame for the millions of illegal entries over the first three years of his term to the Republicans, despite the nearly 100 executive actions he had taken that weakened national sovereignty, billionaire Elon Musk had helped spotlight the international charter flights and a probable consequence from the practice.
After a Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) report had detailed how illegals were using the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) One app to secure flights stateside, a feature the administration utilized to reduce the number of encounters at the border, the threat of a devastating terrorist attack seemed all but likely to the tech entrepreneur.
“This administration is both importing voters and creating a national security threat from unvetted illegal immigrants,” he had reacted on X. “It is highly probable that the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11. Just a matter of time.”
Saturday, Musk furthered his concern in response to Hagerty’s remarks and posted, “This is insane!”
The failed amendment only scratched the surface of the problem as the Tennessee lawmaker went on to suggest Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) was deliberate in scheduling votes related to the border.
“That’s why Chuck Schumer scheduled this vote in the middle of the night (on Friday),” Hagerty reacted to Musk. “He did the same 2 weeks ago on my vote to stop illegals from being counted in the census. They are trying to hide it.”

After all GOP amendments had failed passage and Biden had signed the omnibus bill that was sent to his desk with a vote of 74-24, the senator ascribed motive to the left as he shared the “yeas” and “nays” and charged, “Nothing unites Dems like open borders. They don’t do it because it’s popular [with] the American people. They do it because it increases their power in Congress & Presidential elections through the census. I’ve now proven it twice by forcing them to state their position publicly.”
