A former Obama-era White House aide is under fire for saying that Holocaust education is leading to Palestinian sympathy.
Sarah Hurwitz was speaking at a Jewish Federations of North America event when she made the statement, which has gone viral and is being attacked by pro-Palestinian sympathizers on social media.
Watch:
Former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz: Social media is bad because
1) unlike US media, it doesn’t brainwash people to worship Jews
2) it reveals what the Israelis actually do to Palestinians, rendering hasbara ineffective
3) it makes people think the lesson of the Holocaust is… pic.twitter.com/jVxQLpVsiO— gato fumador (@KweenInYellow) November 18, 2025
“I think that since October 7th, or really before then, there have been huge shifts in America on how people think about Jews and Israel, and I think that is especially true of young people,” she said. “You have TikTok just smashing our young people’s brains all day long with video of carnage in Gaza, and this is why so many of us can’t have a sane conversation with younger Jews, because anything that we try to say to them, they’re hearing it through this wall of carnage. So I want to give data and information and facts and arguments, and they’re just seeing in their minds carnage, and I sound obscene.”
“And you know, I think, unfortunately, the very smart bet that we made on Holocaust education to serve as anti-Semitism education, in this new media environment, I think that is beginning to break down a little bit because, you know, Holocaust education is absolutely essential, but I think it may be confusing some of our young people about anti-Semitism, because they learn about big, strong Nazis hurting weak, emaciated Jews and then they think, ‘Oh, anti-Semitism is like anti-black racism, right? Powerful white people against powerless black people.’ So, when on TikTok all day long they see powerful Israelis hurting weak, skinny Palestinians, it’s not surprising that they think, ‘Oh I know, the lesson of the Holocaust is you fight Israel. You fight the big powerful people hurting the weak people,'” Hurwitz added.
This didn’t go well on X:
To even THINK like this is unforgivable. But to look at an audience and SAY it without a shred of shame, is a whole new tier of moral bankruptcy. Sarah Hurwitz is a broken human being. You’re witnessing the unmasked face of a sociopath, and it is fucking chilling to watch. https://t.co/1CvBAKTAyP

Former Obama official and pro-Israel extremist, Sarah Hurwitz, said they shouldn’t have taught the Holocaust so much because now young people are sympathizing too much with “weak, skinny Palestinians,” instead of the “powerful Israelis” who are like “big, strong Nazis.” Wow!

Former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz totally bewildered by the fact that the lesson people learned from the Holocaust was that we have to fight the Nazis and not that we should unconditionally support Israel

Jewish Zionist Sarah Hurwitz argues that Holocaust indoctrination has backfired since Generation Z now sees Israelis as equivalent to the Nazis.
She then goes on to say that Israel, unlike Nazi Germany, is not actually committing a genocide.
Lol.
