‘Exactly the energy we need’: Trump settles on new White House press secretary

President Donald J. Trump has decided on a new White House press secretary to succeed Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down in August.

The job of the president’s top spokesperson goes to Katie Zacharia, a conservative commentator who is also a communications adviser to the company that runs Truth Social, Trump’s preferred platform for getting his message out.

“It is my Great Honor to have just appointed, as Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia. Katie currently serves as Senior Communications Advisor to Truth Social (Trump Media & Technology Group), where she has been outstanding! A native of California, Katie previously served as Spokesperson and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security,” Trump said in a Friday post to Truth Social.

He added that Zacharia graduated from Pepperdine University and has frequently commented on conservative networks including Fox News and Newsmax and predicted great success for his new spox.

“She was previously involved in my Campaigns, assisting in key Swing States, where we won 7 out of 7. She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning. She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA!” Trump said.

“I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our Country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the Media, the American People, and my Administration,” the president concluded. “Katie is replacing the fabulous Karoline Leavitt, who did a fantastic job as Press Secretary. Good luck Katie!”

Zacharia is also a pro-life Christian with a compelling life story.

One popular X user noted that Zacharia’s mom was going to have her pregnancy terminated before being convinced to place her newborn daughter up for adoption instead. “God can use anyone,” she wrote.

The deeply honored new press secretary graciously accepted the position, thanking Trump for his faith in her.

“Serving President Trump and the American people at this critical 250-year mark is the honor of a lifetime. President Trump has shown America that we can be great again, and he works to effectuate that greatness every single day. His confidence is a true privilege, and his leadership is a blessing to this country,” she wrote in a post to X.

The news was greeted with positive reactions from MAGA, including one prominent influencer who highlighted her stance on illegal aliens and getting them out of the country.

On Friday, Zacharia told Fox News host Jesse Watters that she looks forward to getting to work.

“Well, my first day on the job, Jesse, is Monday,” she said. “I don’t know if that’s a briefing, but President Trump is full of surprises. So, I’m looking forward to serving him and the American people and working more with you, Jesse.”

“I look forward to working with the White House press corps, and with reporters across the country, to get that record out. Following the fabulous Karoline Leavitt is a high standard, and one worth meeting,” Zacharia said on X, giving props to her predecessor. “God bless President Trump, and God bless America.”
