Former President Joe Biden visited a Planned Parenthood gala on Thursday, where he received an award from the organization.
Biden attended the “Chocolate and Champagne Gala” in Delaware, where his wife, former first lady Jill Biden, presented him with the Sonia Schorr Sloan Service Award. The audience cheered the moment, as the former president credited his entire political career to “Sonny” Sloan, a nickname for the activist.

He also predicted how Sloan would have reacted had she lived to see the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.
“She would have felt devastated,” as well as “anger and astonishment,” Biden said, adding that she “wasn’t afraid” and wouldn’t have wasted “a single moment wringing her hands.”
“Following the Dobbs decision, as president, I tried to do what I knew Sonny would have done. We took action. We signed executive orders to protect access to reproductive health care, including emergency medical care,” he recalled.
Breitbart News reported that the Biden administration was a boon for Planned Parenthood, specifically the abortion services they provide.
“Planned Parenthood notably performed a record number of abortions during Biden’s time in the White House. The organization’s most recent report indicated that 434,450 unborn babies were killed in abortions in 2023 and 2024,” the outlet noted. “The organization also secured record government funding at that time, bringing in $832 million in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements — a $39.8 million increase from the previous report.”
