Sen. John Fetterman has reminded conservatives that despite his recent overtures, he’s still a raging Democrat.
Fetterman delivered the reminder Friday by coming to the staunch defense of President Joe Biden in the wake of special counsel Robert K. Hur’s conclusion that the president is too senile to be prosecuted for mishandling classified documents.
Appearing on CNN, the Pennsylvania Democrat was specifically asked to respond to remarks that Democrat presidential candidate Dean Phillips, a frequent Biden critic, made after Hur’s report was released.
“It’s sad to watch our president at an age in life and stage in life when people decline,” Phillips had said. “My party should have anticipated what is happening right now. I was trying to say the quiet part out loud for many, many months. I encouraged the president one year ago to pass the torch. This was so clear what was going to happen.”
Listen to Fetterman’s response below:
After playing a clip of Phillips speaking, CNN host Abby Phillip (no relation) then asked Fetterman, “He says that the Democratic Party should have encouraged a passing of the torch here. Isn’t he right about that to a certain degree?”
The Pennsylvania senator vociferously disagreed.
“No,” he replied. “Actually, what’s sad is to have some guy with way too much money and he wants to piss it away and somehow help Trump at this point. So, he has the right to do that, but he’s just been humiliated again and again and again.”
“And if you really like that, I mean, I guess there’s different kinds of options available that might be cheaper and more private. But he’s irrelevant, as are any of the other third-rate kinds of campaigns now. It’s gonna come down to that same choice between Trump and Biden,” he added.
It appears Fetterman is all aboard the Biden train. Sad but predictable.
However, it gets worse. During a press call Friday, Fetterman even attacked Hur, accusing him of being a fraudulent special counsel guilty of smearing dear leader Biden.
“You have to remember that you have a Trump appointee. That’s 350 pages to just say that Joe Biden isn’t going to be indicted here. It was just a smear and cheap shot, and just taking things out of context,” he said.

But Fetterman appears to really believe this nonsense. Indeed, in a separate interview with Arjun Singh of The Daily Caller, he doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down on his Biden defense.
For example, when asked if he’s EVER once observed the president struggling cognitively, he dared to say no.
“Of course not,” he claimed. “I’ve been, I’ve been on Air Force One with the President, and on Marine One with the President, and I’ve been around him and he is absolutely lucid and most, just is a regular guy.”
He continued by drawing an equivalence between former President Donald Trump’s rare gaffes and the frequent ones made by the sitting president.
“Your side … can’t tell Pelosi and Haley apart,” he said, referencing Trump’s recent claim that former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina was “in charge of security” at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6th, 2021.
“So it really comes down to it that they’re both going to be on the, on the ballot and people are going to have their choices of ‘What do we want for the next four years?’ on all of that, instead of getting in arguments on who has this challenge or who has that challenge? And it’s like, he’s going to be on the ballot, Biden is going to be on the ballot. And that’s what we have here in ’24,” he added.

Asked next if he’s at all concerned that the 81-year-old sitting president’s memory may grow even worse over the next four to five years, Fetterman claimed it’s an irrelevant factor to consider.
“Well, we’re not there and I don’t expect that we’re gonna get there,” he said. “So it’s just like, I don’t know. I mean, it’s like the Republican side shouldn’t be worrying about that because it has been clear, it’s been clearly, that it’s the same guys at the same age, that has already demonstrated that he has some difficulties.”
