Fetterman rips corrupt Senate colleague: ‘We should have chucked that sleazeball long ago’

U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) isn’t backing off his criticism of his crooked colleague Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and plans to force a vote on his resolution to ban lawmakers who have been indicted on matters involving national security from attending classified briefings.

A walking, talking testament to the ability to recover from clinical depression, the Pennsylvania Democrat has been a changed man since being hospitalized last year, emerging as the most sensible voice in his left-wing party on several issues with his outspoken support for Israel infuriating his previous supporters.

Fetterman has also talked like an absolute boss when it comes to taking a hard line on those abusing their office for personal gain, particularly the embattled New Jersey senator whom he referred to as a “sleazeball” to a CNN reporter.

In a Friday post to the X platform, Manu Raju wrote, “Sen. John Fetterman told me he plans to go to floor next week to force a vote on his resolution that would bar senators indicted on national security issues from attending classified briefings — aimed at Bob Menendez. The move would force a member to object.”

“We should have chucked that sleazeball long ago. But now we’re looking to move my resolution to the floor, and I’m going to call on unanimous consent so we can stop any senator that is being accused of being a foreign agent attending classified briefings,” Raju added, quoting the hulking hoodie-clad galoot who means business.

On Friday, Fetterman appeared on “The Lead” where he discussed his plan for the vote on barring Menendez from briefings after he was indicted in bribery schemes with two foreign nations.

“He has the right to have his day in court, absolutely,” Fetterman said of his fellow Democrat, “but he doesn’t have the right to necessarily be a senator, and he definitely doesn’t have the right to be in classified briefings that involve nations that he is now credibly accused of being a foreign agent of. It’s outrageous and I truly can’t understand why anybody would be okay with that.”

Earlier this month, Fetterman renewed his calls for Menendez to be expelled after a second indictment, this one involving accepting gifts to help Qatar’s government.

“Now, accused of selling his honor and our nation for a $24,000 watch. Accused as a foreign agent for *two* nations,” he wrote on X. “How much more before we finally expel @SenatorMenendez?”

Fetterman had previously called for his fellow senators to give the heave-ho to Menendez after his first indictment over a foreign bribery scheme involving Egypt.

“Senator Menendez should not be a U.S. Senator. He should have been gone long ago. It is time for every one of my colleagues in the Senate to join me in expelling Senator Menendez,” he said on X in October 2023.”We cannot have an alleged foreign agent in the United States Senate.”

Fetterman is backing Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ) in the contested primary for the Senate seat that Menendez is defiantly clinging to.

“I’m proud to endorse @AndyKimNJ, someone we can count on to be a reliable Democratic vote in the Senate,” he said on Thursday. “Bobby Gold Bars has got to go. And New Jersey has the opportunity to elect a truly decent person in his place.”
