Fighting oligarchy: Ilhan Omar’s net worth soars up to $30M – report

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) recently insisted that claims she is a millionaire were “ridiculous” and “categorically false,” but her financial disclosure seems to tell a much different story.

According to a report from the Washington Free Beacon, the “Squad” member is actually a multimillionaire with her official 2024 disclosure showing that she and her husband Tim Mynett reported a net worth of up to $30 million, a far cry from living in the poorhouse.

The document, which was filed in May, shows that the Somali-born congresswoman and her former political consultant spouse’s net worth exploded by around 3,500 percent compared to 2023 with the fortune derived from Mynett’s ownership stake in two companies – a winery and a venture capital firm – that were worth “no more than $51,000 at the end of 2023,” the outlet reported.

Omar’s statement puts the value of eStCru LLC, a Santa Cruz, CA-based winery, at between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. She valued the company’s assets at $15,000 and $50,000 in her previous financial disclosure.

In the document, Omar also states that assets for the Washington, D.C.-based Rose Lake Capital LLC. were valued at between $5,000,000 to $25,000,000 at the end of 2024, an astonishing jump from a business that was worth a paltry $1,000 in 2023, according to the outlet.

“Our team of world class experts harness their combined centuries of experience, and deep global networks built from on-the-ground work in more than 80 countries working across business, politics, banking and diplomacy. Our expertise includes structuring deals, legislation, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring and capital raising. From distressed assets to buying publicly traded companies – our team has the prowess to execute the right opportunities,” the company states on its website.

The bomb-throwing Muslim congresswoman previously dismissed speculation about her wealth as being “disinformation” and, in February, told one online outlet that “there has been a coordinated right-wing disinformation campaign claiming all sorts of wild things, including the ridiculous claim I am worth millions of dollars, which is categorically false.”

In February, Omar challenged one X user to “maybe try checking my public financial statements,” which now seems to have come back to haunt her, at least according to the latest financial disclosure now that the WFB has come up with the receipts.

X users chimed in on the report.

“I am a working mom with student loan debt. Unlike some of my colleagues — and similar to most Americans — I am not a millionaire and am raising a family while maintaining a residence in both Minneapolis and DC, which are among the most expensive housing markets in the country,” Omar said in February, crying the poor mouth.

It’s not a good look for a Democrat who is closely associated with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the “Squad” leader, who embarked on a “Fighting Oligarchy” campaign-style barnstorming tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) as she lays the groundwork for a potential 2028 White House run.
