CBS News committed what many saw as a “Freudian slip” on Friday, accidentally referring to President Biden as the “former president,” correcting it, and then getting reamed for it.
Social media had a field day with the gaffe after CBS News posted the headline on X. The leftist media outlet quickly deleted the alleged goof but not before it was seized upon just about everywhere. A number of X users claimed that CBS had admitted the quiet part out loud and that the country was fed up with Biden and wanted him gone.
The post was shared Friday evening and provided a link to a livestream of President Biden’s remarks given at Camp David during his trilateral summit with South Korean and Japanese leaders.
The now-deleted original post’s caption read, “WATCH LIVE: Former President Biden holds news conference at Camp David with leaders of Japan and South Korea.”

As soon as CBS noticed the error, it corrected it by deleting the post and sharing a revised one containing the livestream. The media outlet acknowledged the mistake and told viewers, “A previous tweet contained an error that had ‘former” before President Biden. It has been corrected.” They definitely did not get a pass for it.

The mock-worthy misstep comes as an overwhelming majority of Americans are making it abundantly clear they are disappointed with President Biden’s handling of the economy, according to a new poll released on Thursday.
The poll, conducted by The Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found that just 36% of Americans approve of Biden when it comes to the economy. That is even lower than his overall dismal approval rating of 42%.
Biden’s economy numbers have stagnated, remaining as low as they were two months ago, despite weeks of pushing his “Bidenomics” propaganda from the White House. According to the poll, 55% of Democrats say Biden should not run for president again, though 82% indicated they would vote for him if nominated.
I fixed President Biden’s infographic. The Biden-Harris economy is definitely breaking records — just not good ones. #Bidenomics pic.twitter.com/qlnIgsWAf5

The poll of 1,165 adults was conducted Aug. 10-14. The findings of the poll echo the results of a Monmouth University Poll released in July.
That particular poll found that 62% of respondents disapprove of Biden’s handling of inflation, compared to 34% who said they approve. Inflation has remained high in the US with Americans spending hundreds of dollars more each month than they did two years ago.
In the unforgiving world of social media, CBS News’ move came far too late to stop the epic dragging they richly deserved amid its prescient claim about Biden:
Yeah sure. #FreudianSlip

No, you were correct the first time

You weren’t supposed to say former until it’s been announced later this year.

And there we were, all excited

Interesting “error”. Must have just come out of nowhere.

Finally some truth! He will be former.

Kind of like the obituaries that accidentally run a day ahead of time or the court clerk accidentally posting an indictment hours before it happens. It’s just a dry run…

Did you all mistakenly use a template that is intended to go into use later this year? https://t.co/cLYbhnwmiT

It’s ok… it’s not like you’ve been doing this news thing very long. You’ll get it eventually. pic.twitter.com/qeGf1fnMP0

So let’s say it was an accident ok so just explain to me what you intended to put in front of pjb…….what logical explanation do you have that makes sense from a common sense standpoint if you can.

Is this kind of like the Atlanta DA saying the release of the indictments was false information only to have the clerk of the court confess she hit send instead of save BEFORE the grand jury returned with their verdict? Yeah, okay.
