Fmr. chief of staff Mick Mulvaney blasts Trump’s inner circle ‘at the end’: ‘Garbage in. Garbage out’

Mick Mulvaney, who served as Donald Trump’s chief of staff, took to Twitter in response to Monday’s airing of hearings from Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s politically motivated January 6 select committee to blast the former president’s inner circle after the 2020 election.

The committee played footage of Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell pushing claims of voter fraud, which Mulvaney dismissed as “garbage.”

“Trump’s inner circle at the end was…Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, Peter Navarro…Garbage in. Garbage out,” Mulvaney tweeted.

In one clip, Giuliani is heard saying, “They saw a big truck bringing in 100,000 ballots in garbage cans, in wastepaper baskets, in cardboard boxes, and in shopping baskets. And every single one of them was for Biden.”

Giuliani was suspended from practicing law in New York over claims about the 2020 election and was just hit with an ethics charge by the D.C. Bar, He is also the subject of a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit filed against him by voting technology company Dominion Voting Systems. Powell and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell are also named in the lawsuit.

Mulvaney was critical of Giuliani being tapped to lead Trump’s election challenge

“I’m still a little concerned about the use of Rudy Giuliani,” he said, after the 2020 election. “It strikes me that this is the most important lawsuit in the history of the country, and they’re not using the most well-noted election lawyers. There are folks who do this all of the time. This is a specialty.”

“This is not a television program,” Mulvaney added. “This is the real thing.”

In additional commentary offered online, Mulvaney said that those who believe Trump won the election should be watching the dog and pony show that serves as a de facto Democratic Party infomercial.

“I’m not sure how today’s hearing will establish that Trump ‘knew’ he lost — indeed, all the evidence is that he never accepted that — but I do wish that every person who thinks Trump really did win watched what we just saw,” he tweeted.

Mulvaney did say that the committee failed in its effort to prove Trump knew he lost the 2020 election and still tried “grifted” supporters for donations.

“Not sure what Dems accomplished today. Some interesting sidelights (on, say, fundraising) but they had nothing to show Trump believed he lost. In fact, they showed the exact opposite. They made the case that he probably should have known…but that is different,” he wrote.
