Chad Wolf, the former acting secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, urged the House of Representatives to cut off additional funding to the agency in 2023 until it rectifies pro-illegal immigration policies that are being pushed by the Biden administration.
On Tuesday, Wolf sent a letter to Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) suggesting that the House use its power of the purse to force DHS to address illegal immigration.
“Through a series of detrimental policy decisions, the Biden Administration is breaking records for all the wrong reasons – a historic number of illegal apprehensions, gotaways, trafficking of unaccompanied alien children, known or suspected terrorists, attacks on Border Patrol agents, and the list goes on,” he noted in the letter. “Never has our southern border been so exploited and controlled by criminal cartels as they are today.”
“To this end, I strongly encourage you to reject the $4.2 billion requested by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Today’s crisis is not the result of a lack of resources; it is the result of a flawed policy agenda. There is no amount of money that can solve the crisis if the underlying failed policies remain unchanged,” he asserted.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre falsely claimed on Monday that the Biden administration is “surging” resources to the southern border and needs an additional $3.5 billion from congressional Republicans to continue to do so. Her remarks come as Title 42 is set to expire on Wednesday, exploding the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border. In an extortive and breathtakingly disingenuous move, Jean-Pierre claimed if Republicans were “serious” about securing the border, they’d secure the funds.
Since President Biden has been in office, his policies have massively exacerbated the problem of illegal immigration as he reversed a number of Trump-era immigration policies that protected the border. Those policies included Remain in Mexico and the Asylum Cooperative Agreements, as well as a straightforward asylum/removal process for illegal immigrants. Wolf addressed all of that as the Biden administration insists on blaming Congress and the courts for it.

“Instead of taking accountability for these failures, the Biden Administration is trying to blame Congress for not passing new immigration laws. This is disingenuous, and I encourage you to reject this false narrative,” Wolf proclaimed. “DHS has sufficient authority today to secure the border.”
Last week, Wolf also spoke on the issue during an interview with Real America’s Voice. He addressed the incoming GOP House majority, stating that it needs to crack down hard on illegal immigration and the border.

“I think there’s a number of things that they can likely do,” Wolf claimed on Wednesday’s edition of the “Just the News, No Noise” show. “They can require that a number of policies be put back in place and they can do that by withholding funds — even for the department until those policies are actually enacted.”
“It all comes back to making sure that we bring some order out of the chaos at the border,” he remarked. “That’s really what it’s all about at the end of the day.”
1. Biden's DHS has asked Congress for $4.2 B for "border management" support. With such a request, they are asking Congress to endorse and fund their failed strategy for the past 2 years. This should be rejected. https://t.co/DdnSmn4rQz

Then he brought up Title 42 which Biden has requested that the Supreme Court bring to an end and its devastating consequences if it is allowed to do so.
“When Title 42 goes away, if it goes away — you’re gonna see a very real problem along that border because there’s no plan in place,” he explained. “You’ll see children, you’ll see families, you’ll see men and women ages 18 to 35. They’ll be coming from 130 different countries around the world. So it’s not just Central Americans and Mexicans.”
Biden Admin has requested the end of T42 on Dec 27. They want more time to prepare. I guess 23 months wasn’t long enough. At the same time, the current spending bill before Congress includes $2B for “border management” and explicitly prohibits using any funds for border security.
