Former Biden staffer calls out ‘absolutely sinister’ adults who dress inappropriately around kids

A former Biden staffer has had enough with adults wearing “inappropriate” outfits at children’s theme parks.

Yemisi Egbewole, who worked in former President Joe Biden’s White House, shared her opinion on the degradation of expectations in shared spaces. Specifically, she took issue with how some adults are choosing to dress in places that are supposed to be family-oriented, such as Disneyland. In a video posted to TikTok, she laid out her argument that not all spaces are for you to dress however you want, even going so far as to call the act of knowingly dressing inappropriately around children “sinister.”

@yemisi.egbewole You can cover yourself appropriately in certain environments and still maintain your free expression, identity, blah blah. “There is something absolutely sinister about an adult who actively chooses not to wear appropriate clothing in an environment that is marketed towards children, and we need to talk about it more,” she said. “Because we have allowed people to do it in an effort to ‘not condition people’s bodies’ or ‘not have a say in how people express themselves,’ but in doing so, we have eroded rules.”

“Rules that don’t have to be on a board, or in front of a building before you walk in, but rules that exist within society without having to say so. And I’m talking about Disneyland because I was there for the first time,” she continued. “I also don’t need to see somebody in almost chaps when I’m looking at a toddler meeting Daisy and Donald for the first time. Right? And it’s almost like if you say it out loud, people are like, ‘What is this, the Puritan movement?’ The Temperance movement? Is this ‘The Crucible?’ ‘What’s going on here? Let women be women, let people be people.'”

“No! No! We have to claw back these spaces. I saw a conversation about the Houston rodeo and how people were like, ‘What’s going on? We’re losin’ the plot here.’ Adults are walking around, and they think it’s a club, but this is really a fairground. It’s a carnival for children,” Egbewole added. “They’re meeting animals, they’re meeting livestock for the first time, right? It’s like 4-H. Let’s claw it back, let’s gain some ground again, some authority in this conversation. Let’s not accept people choosing to make spaces that are distinctly curated for children, their club, and their environment. There are adult spaces where you can wear what you like.”

“I went to see Cowboy Carter,” she noted. “I wore what I wanted. Went with a whole party bus full of people, we wore what we wanted. Do you understand the difference? And I’m scrolling through TikTok, and it’s people on here talking about  ‘Well, y’all just gotta let people live how they want.’ No! I don’t. Not when we’re bringing kids to see Mickey and Minnie. Not when we know the rules, we as adults know the rules. And you know what, children do too because they notice and it’s uncomfortable.”

“We maintain societal order by rejecting the inappropriateness of people who know better. That’s it,” she concluded.
