Former CNN anchor arrested for alleged hit-and-run in Palm Beach

A former CNN International anchor was arrested late last month in Palm Beach for committing an alleged hit-and-run.

Felicia Taylor, a former anchor-correspondent for CNN International’s “World Business Today,” was arrested on July 28th “after she allegedly hit another car while driving her white Mercedes, causing injury to the other driver, then leaving the scene,” according to Page Six.

The incident report says that Taylor, 57, hit the rear bumper of a black Ford that was being driven by a 24-year-old man in Florida.

“His vehicle was struck from behind by the white Mercedes. The impact caused [him] to strike the steering wheel, causing multiple complaints of injuries,” the report reads.

Taylor was then seen “fleeing the scene of the accident without rendering aid or stopping to provide information.”

It gets worse.

She reportedly drove past the scene of the crime twice, and not once did she deem to check on the condition of the other driver, whose car had “sustained heavy front end damage,” according to the report.

At one point, she was pulled over and, it would appear, apparently questioned about the damage to her own car.

“Taylor acknowledged being involved in a traffic crash and [said] the other driver was ‘OK.’ Taylor continued to state that she wanted to go back to her house . . . and the accident was ‘not a big deal,'” the incident report reads.

But her stories didn’t add up.

“She told the police officer she was traveling from The Colony Hotel, ‘and when confronted that the Colony Hotel was closed, Taylor didn’t have a response,'” Page Six reported, citing the incident report.

“Prior to the crash, Taylor stated she was at a restaurant on Worth Avenue and then stated she was at a restaurant in the Royal Poinciana Plaza. We were unable to locate a restaurant that recalls Taylor as a guest,” the report reads.

Taylor was last seen on CNN International as recently as 2011:

The officers then apparently questioned her about her mental state.

“She denied being on prescription drugs or having imbibed any alcohol, and the police officer added that he did not smell alcohol on her,” according to Page Six.

Meanwhile, the other driver was reportedly treated at the scene of the crash and complained of jaw, head, neck, and back pain.

Taylor was apparently unconvinced.

She “wanted the injuries of the other driver to be substantiated,” according to the report.

She also said “the damage to her vehicle is her problem, its ‘hard to be a good person’ and she didn’t stop at the accident scene because she didn’t know there was anything to be concerned with,” the report reads.

The police ultimately hauled her off to Palm Beach County Jail and charged her with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.

She then reportedly bailed herself out for $3,000 and entered a “not guilty” plea.

“Her Mercedes was hauled away by police, who found a bottle of white wine that was three quarters full, plus a silver thermos also three quarters full ‘of an unknown alcoholic beverage.’ Both the wine bottle and thermos were wedged behind the passenger seat ‘and out of the reach of the driver,'” according to Page Six.

This is not Taylor’s first driving incident.

“Taylor, who was also the co-host of Retirement Living TV’s ‘Daily Cafe’ until 2009 and worked for WNBC-TV from 1998 to 2006, was previously arrested in 2015 for drunk driving. She was busted with a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit after side-swiping another car in the Hamptons, police said,” according to Page Six.

“Taylor was reportedly so drunk after the late-afternoon accident on Sept. 4 on Main Street in Sag Harbor that she was taken to Southampton Hospital ‘for medical evaluation,’ according to police. She was charged with aggravated DWI.”

This incident comes amid the hubbub over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband being arrested for driving under the influence.

“The Napa County District Attorney’s Office charged him with one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with an .08% blood alcohol level or higher causing injury, both misdemeanors,” according to CBS News.

“The 82-year-old Pelosi was involved in a two-vehicle wreck on a rural road in Napa County at approximately 10:17 p.m. on May 28, the district attorney’s office said in a statement announcing the charging decision.”

The incident sparked anger when word emerged that he’d been released on a measly $5,000 bail bond.

Controversy erupted again this week when Fox News published a copy of Pelosi’s criminal complaint. The complaint revealed that he’d allegedly tried to get himself out of trouble by touting his donations to a California Highway Patrol charity.

“Pelosi allegedly handed officers his driver’s license and an ’11-99 Foundation’ card when they asked for his ID, according to the documents. The 11-99 Foundation is a California Highway Patrol charity that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children,” as reported by Fox News.
