Former Obama CIA director Panetta says Israel’s exploding pager operation is ‘terrorism’

The Israeli operation that struck a blow against members of the Hezbollah terror organization by detonating their pagers infuriated left-wing Democrats and now a former CIA director is describing it as “a form of terrorism.”

While “Squad” Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and communist curmudgeon Sen. Bernie Sanders ranted on social media, Leon Panetta who headed up the nation’s spy agency under Barack Obama took to the airwaves to condemn the actions of the Jewish democracy against those who want to see it wiped off the face of the map.

Panetta – who also headed up the Pentagon under Obama – appeared on “CBS Sunday Morning” where he and anchor Lee Cowan discussed the complex and stunning operation against Hezbollah that has been described as “ingenious.”

“The ability to be able to place an explosive in technology that is very prevalent these days and turn it into a war of terror, really, a war of terror, this is something new,” he said.

“Is it terrorism?” Cowan asked.

“I don’t think there’s any question that it’s a form of terrorism…This is going right into the supply chain, right into the supply chain, and when you have terror going into the supply chain, it makes people ask the question, what the hell is next?” Panetta responded, all but accusing Israel – which has not officially taken credit for the operation – of being a nation that engages in terrorism.

“It sounds like you’re genuinely worried,” Cowan said.

“I am, I am. This is a tactic, that has repercussions,” Panetta responded, suggesting that the exploding pager operation could lead to escalation. “And we really don’t know what those repercussions are going to be…The forces of war are largely in control right now. What’s going on?”

“Do you think there should be condemnation for it?” Cowan asked, inviting the question of whether there should be a response to Israel from Washington and globalist bodies. “Should other nations step in, including us?”

“I think it’s going to be very important for the nations of the world to have a serious discussion,” the former top spook said. “About whether or not this is an area that everybody has to focus on, because if they don’t try to deal with it now. Mark my word… it is the battlefield of the future.”

“Israel’s pager attack in Lebanon detonated thousands of handheld devices across a slew of public spaces, seriously injuring and killing innocent civilians,” Ocasio-Cortez raged on X last week. “This attack clearly and unequivocally violates international humanitarian law and undermines US efforts to prevent a wider conflict.”

“Congress needs a full accounting of the attack, including an answer from the State Department as to whether any US assistance went into the development or deployment of this technology,” she demanded.

Obama’s spy chief would seem to be in agreement with the ideological thought leader of the anti-Israel Democratic Party.
