Former ‘Squad’ member gets boost in political comeback bid

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, is throwing his support behind former “Squad” member Cori Bush’s comeback attempt.

On Tuesday, Bush revealed that Sanders had officially endorsed her Congressional bid in Missouri as she seeks to return to the House of Representatives.

“I’m honored to be endorsed once again by Senator Bernie Sanders as I run to return to Congress to keep fighting for St. Louis’ families. Bernie knows that for too long, MAGA billionaires and powerful right-wing lobbies have been allowed to rig the economy against everyday people,” she wrote.

Sanders shared her post, noting specifically that Bush plans to “take on AIPAC and other billionaire-backed special interests.”

“She will help transform our economy and government into one that works for all, not just the powerful and well-connected,” the lawmaker added. “That’s why I’m proud to endorse Cori once again to represent Missouri’s 1st District.”

Bush is seeking to take back her previous seat, which she lost last year to Rep. Wesley Ball, D-Missouri, who had the backing of pro-Israel AIPAC. This would explain why Bush would want to “take on” the lobby so badly.
