‘Forrest Gump’ Duckworth claps back after epic Vance jab

Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois dumped a torrent of insults on Vice President JD Vance after he called her out on her embarrassing performance at a Senate hearing.

Duckworth was compared to the low-IQ fictional character Forrest Gump by the vice president after she was schooled by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday. The Democrat lawmaker repeatedly interrupted Rubio and tried to trip him with gotcha questions about the Trump Administration’s actions in Venezuela.

“Watching Tammy Duckworth obsessively interrupt Marco Rubio during this hearing is like watching Forest Gump argue with Isaac Newton,” Vance wrote in a post commenting after her back-and-forth with Rubio.

Duckworth fired back at Vance’s post as “petty insults.”

“Forrest Gump ran toward danger in Vietnam. Your boss ran to his podiatrist crying bone spurs,” the senator,  a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and Iraq War veteran, wrote, referring to President Trump.

“Petty insults at the expense of people with disabilities won’t change the fact that you’re risking troops’ lives to boost Chevron’s stock price,” continued the Democrat who lost her legs when her helicopter was shot down in Iraq. “It’s my job to hold you accountable.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) championed Duckworth in a post, referring to Vance as a “random troll.”

“That’s a U.S. Senator doing her job. This is a random troll tweeting at her,” he wrote, joining other Democrats who quickly chimed in to defend their own despite her performative questioning of Rubio, who brilliantly shot down each of her attempts to smear the president and his policies regarding Venezuela and drug trafficking.

“Mr. Secretary, the administration has admitted that the vast majority of people that it rounded up and deported to torture under this law had no criminal record whatsoever. Over 75 percent,” she claimed at one point in the fiery exchange.

“Who did we torture? We didn’t torture anybody. We’ve arrested people who are members of gangs, and we’ve deported them,” Rubio shot back.

The vice president added a follow-up remark on X praising Rubio and drawing a reaction from Elon Musk.

“Thank God we have a Secretary of State who knows his facts AND has the patience of Job. Great job,@SecRubio,” he wrote.

Despite Duckworth’s cheerleaders coming to her defense, many on X agreed with Vance and called the Democrat out for her double standards and ignorance.
