Fox News anchor in spat with Biden campaign over ‘blatant lie’ smear, and he has receipts

The Biden-Harris campaign is so sure that it won’t be called out on its lies by the corrupt media that it baselessly smeared Fox News anchor John Roberts for telling the truth and he’s pushing back.

Roberts told viewers that it was former President Donald J. Trump who was responsible for the $35 cap on insulin co-pays, something that Joe Biden has taken credit for, with the Biden-Harris rapid response social media account accusing Roberts of being a liar.

“Fox host tries to claim Trump, not President Biden, capped insulin at $35/month. FACT CHECK: This is a blatant lie. Trump did not cap insulin costs, President Biden did for seniors through the Inflation Reduction Act. Trump’s Project 2025 wants to repeal it, which would raise insulin costs for over a million Americans,” the Biden-Harris HQ stated in a post to X.

The “America Reports” anchor responded to the campaign’s phony “fact check” and he brought the receipts.

“Yesterday, coming out of a segment in which the $35 insulin co-pay under the Inflation Reduction Act was mentioned, I remarked that I recalled back in May of 2020 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services had issued a press release that stated President Trump had a plan to lower insulin co-plays to $35. The Biden campaign’s rapid response issued a response on X saying the following,” Roberts said on Tuesday, reading the Biden-Harris HQ’s hit job.

“But there are receipts to dispute the Biden campaign’s claim about what I said,” Roberts said, citing a May 2020 CMS press release.

“Today, under President Trump’s leadership, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that over 1,750 standalone Medicare Part D prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans with prescription drug coverage have applied to offer lower insulin costs through the Part D Senior Savings Model for the 2021 plan year. Across the nation, participating enhanced Part D prescription drug plans will provide Medicare beneficiaries access to a broad set of insulins at a maximum $35 copay for a month’s supply, from the beginning of the year through the Part D coverage gap. The model follows on the Trump Administration’s previously announced 13.5 percent decline in the average monthly basic Part D premium since 2017 to the lowest level in seven years,” the May 26, 2020 press release said, a fact check on the Biden campaign’s blatant lie.

Roberts also pointed out that there was a White House Rose Garden event on the day of the press release that was attended by drug company CEOs as well as the CEO of the American Diabetes Association as he rolled a clip of the event and followed it up with a story from the Washington Post – no friend of Trump – that reported on the plan.

After sharing additional “receipts” with viewers and explaining Trump’s program, Roberts said that the Biden-Harris team is too chicken to come on the network and defend their “fact check” which is typically the case with liars.

“We invited a representative from the Biden campaign to come on the program with us to discuss the issue but thus far, they have made no one available,” Roberts said.
