Fox News host Lawrence Jones argued on Tuesday that transgender people who genuinely think they’re the other sex should be barred from gun ownership.
Jones made the argument while speaking on Fox News’ “The Five” about the recent rash of shootings and mass shootings committed by transgender people.
He started by noting that the transgender community is generally left-wing, and that left-wingers generally want to institute more gun restrictions, not less.
Yet when it comes to the transgender community, their attitude appears to be the exact opposite…

“It is so interesting to me, for a movement that is always quick to talk about gun restrictions, that they have not been able to address this issue with moral clarity,” Jones began.
“If you are someone that just wants to wear a dress, no problem. If you are someone that just wants to identify as another sex, but you know that deep down you’re not, but you just want to be called he or she, that is one thing,” he added.
But, he continued, if someone genuinely believes they “are another sex,” that’s a whole different matter altogether.
“If you, from a psychological standpoint, think that you are another sex, you should not have a gun,” he explained.
“Something that has been diagnosed as gender dysphoria is a problem, and all of us know it. We all have to fill out the federal gun form that talks about mental [health] — you should have to check that box,” Jones continued.
Why isn’t this already happening? Jones attributed it to politics.
“It is because [of] the politics surrounding the issue of not wanting to be offensive, we are not doing the right thing on this,” he said. “And I’m a purist when it comes to people — I mean, I’m from Texas. We have constitutional carry. Everybody has a gun there.”
“But the people that — again, I’m not talking about people that say they want to be transgender, dress a certain way, identify as a certain way. But if you mentally think you are someone that you are not, that has to be addressed,” he concluded.
Conservative commentator and podcast host Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire made a similar argument earlier Tuesday afternoon:
Any adult man with a wife and children who “transitions” to a “woman” is automatically a threat to his family and the public. All of them should be looked at with suspicion and extreme wariness. None of them should be allowed to own guns. They should all be legally required to…

“Any adult man with a wife and children who ‘transitions’ to a ‘woman’ is automatically a threat to his family and the public,” Walsh tweeted after the latest transgender shooting earlier this week. “All of them should be looked at with suspicion and extreme wariness. None of them should be allowed to own guns.”
“They should all be legally required to undergo psychiatric treatment at the very least. Any man who is willing to destroy his family and bring unimaginable harm and devastation to his wife and children for the sake of his sexual fetish is by definition dangerous, delusional, and narcissistic to an extreme and unstable degree,” he added.
The remarks from Jones and the tweet from Walsh came after a disturbed man pretending to be a woman opened fire at a high school hockey game in Rhode Island, shooting four family members and a family friend before killing himself. Three people died, including the trans suspect.
Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves announced at a press conference late Monday that the suspect was “transgender.”
“We have identified the person, the suspect, by a birth name, the birth name was Robert Dorgan,” she said. “We have also learned that the person goes by the name of Roberta and also uses the last name of Esposito.”
