Fox News host Steve Doocy explains how Trump is ‘helping Joe Biden’ by ditching debates

“Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy played dirty pool on Monday, falsely informing co-host Brian Kilmeade that if Trump doesn’t attend the first Republican debate, he is “helping Joe Biden.”

Considering Trump is leading the GOP pack by roughly 45 points according to FiveThirtyEight, the specious claim by Doocy seems significantly out of line and ill-considered.

His logic seems to be it would give President Biden an excuse not to debate other Democrats as well. That’s like comparing apples and oranges. Biden is a sitting president who has bottomed out in the polls. Trump is a candidate that is so far ahead and so popular, many experts only see a downside to him getting into a wrestling match with other contenders, jockeying for second place.

Trump announced on Friday via Truth Social that he would not take part in Wednesday’s Fox News debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It’s the first official debate ahead of the 2024 election. On Sunday, the former president said he will skip all debates because of his massive lead.

“Many people are asking whether or not I will be doing the DEBATES? ALL AMERICANS have been clamoring for a President of extremely High Intelligence. As everyone is aware, my Poll numbers, over a “wonderful” field of Republican candidates, are extraordinary. In fact, I am leading the runner up, whoever that may now be, by more than 50 Points. Reagan didn’t do it, and neither did others. People know my Record, one of the BEST EVER, so why would I Debate? I’M YOUR MAN. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” the former president declared.

“New CBS POLL, just out, has me leading the field by “legendary” numbers. TRUMP 62%, 46 Points above DeSanctimonious (who is crashing like an ailing bird!), Ramaswamy 7%, Pence 5%, Scott 3%, Haley 2%, Sloppy Chris Christie 2%, “Aida” Hutchinson 1%. The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had, with Energy Independence, Strong Borders & Military, Biggest EVER Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy in History, & much more. I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!” Trump noted.

That did not sit well with Doocy.

By skipping the debates, though, Donald Trump may actually be helping Joe Biden because he’s giving Joe Biden an excuse for not debating Donald Trump,” he asserted. “That’s one of the things that Ronna McDaniel told the former president when she was trying to get him to do the first debate. But he said, nope, not going to do it.”

“I don’t know how that would be, though. How could Joe Biden rationalize not going against Donald Trump?” Kilmeade responded.

That’s when Doocy spewed out an excuse benefitting Biden.

Because if Donald Trump says everybody knows me, I don’t need to do it, then Joe Biden does. Everybody knows me,” Doocy proclaimed.

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt also commented that Biden would love to have an excuse to avoid debating Trump.

“I mean, if he does want to do the debate, I could totally understand it because he can’t get through a sentence,” Kilmeade added referring to Biden. “If you watched him over the weekend, just slur his way through that mini-summit and who knows what’s going to happen in Hawaii. Right?”

Trump will reportedly air an interview with Tucker Carlson during the debate. It will be interesting to see who gets more people watching.
