Fox News reveals GOP senators standing in way of talking filibuster to pass voter ID bill

Fox News just dropped a list of the Republican Senators who may be standing in the way of using the talk filibuster to pass the SAVE Act.

Many in the GOP support the voter ID bill ahead of the midterm and the 2028 presidential elections as a way to make sure that only United States citizens are influencing American electoral outcomes. Of course, the Democrats are largely opposed to this and claim that it will “disenfranchise” voters they think are too incompetent to obtain the necessary identification. As Republicans search for ways to get the act through both chambers of Congress, some of their own appear poised to stand in the way.

Fox News published a graphic with the names of seven Republicans who have “either expressed skepticism or have outright rejected using the talking filibuster.”

Look:

The list included John Cornyn of Texas, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Katie Britt of Alabama, John Curtis of Utah, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota.

As of this publishing, both Senators John Cornyn and Katie Britt have contradicted the reporting and expressed their support for the method:

“Contrary to fake news in the twitterverse: I have supported the Save America Act from day one. I will happily support the ‘talking filibuster’ if that’s what it takes to pass this into law,” Cornyn wrote.

This is blatantly false. I have been working with [Mike Lee] to find the votes and path forward to pass the SAVE America Act, which includes the talking filibuster,” Britt wrote.

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, has also confirmed Britt’s “tireless support” for the use of the talking filibuster.
