Fugitive posts video on social media taunting police, now he’s the laughingstock of the Internet

A wanted man may have just earned himself the title of “America’s Dumbest Criminal” after a social media stunt resulted in his arrest.

Devon Bart, 25, was arrested on Friday after taunting police in a series of social media posts that have since been deleted. In one of the reported posts, he said “that if he was going to jail, the authorities would have to find him first.” He posted pictures along with the mocking posts, but law enforcement found the behavior anything but funny.

“We take all warrants and the law very seriously at the Sheriff’s Office,” Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner said in a social media post on the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. “Evading Deputies is not a game — ignoring the law has serious consequences.”

Bart’s attempt at evading the law quickly came to an end, and he was placed under arrest without incident. According to the sheriff’s office, Bart’s warrant was issued in connection with a domestic-related assault.

Social media users had a lot of say about this “criminal mastermind”:
