Gas prices near $7 a gallon in Newsom’s left-wing utopia; oily Dem complains about price gouging

You have to give Californians their due for being willing to tolerate omnipotent moral busybodies controlling every aspect of their lives, from how many bullets their guns can hold to the price of gasoline — then again, they elected these woke politicians with their green agendas into office.

It’s on the latter point that Gov. Gavin Newson is once again looking for a fall guy to run cover for failed policies that traditionally has California leading the nation in high gas prices — in some areas, the price for a gallon of gas has topped $6 while other areas have reached $7, according to Fox News. The current national average is $3.96.

Naturally, the answer for Democrats is another government agency and more regulations to go after “price gougers.”

Turns out, the real price gouging comes from the government in the form of endless taxes and fees motorists have to pay to fill up:

Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, told KCRA there are a lot of factors at play, including the fact that refineries have to produce a “special blend” unique to California.

“There’s a lot that’s going wrong,” De Haan said. “First, the rising price of oil, but the lack of refining capacity, a special blend that’s only required in California, high taxes, a cap-and-trade program all of that. When prices are running normally, California is still about a dollar a gallon above everyone else.”

A San Diego resident told Fox News that hard choices have to be made when it comes to buying gas, such as putting food on the table.

“It’s not equivalent, you know, like it doesn’t make up for how high gas prices are in comparison to what I make,” the man said. “You know, groceries, bills, phone bill, rent, everything. Sometimes I’m like, ‘Oh, I can’t go out this week. I can’t do this.’ It’s kind of hard.”

At the same time, Newsom is being held up as a likely alternative to Joe Biden, the feeble 80-year-old geriatric currently in the White House, as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee. Yet, the effects of the policies the governor supports are on full display for all to see, meaning Americans will have only themselves to blame if they elevate Newsom to a higher office.
