Geraldo hints about future at Fox News after ‘The Five’ departure, Twitter overflows with suggestions

Veteran media personality Geraldo Rivera teased fans about his future with Fox News after he announced that he would no longer be appearing on “The Five” following clashes with conservative co-hosts, taking to Twitter to stoke anticipation for the big reveal of his plans which he will make public next week.

“I’m off The Five. My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday June 29th and 30th,” the 80-year-old Rivera said in a tweet on Wednesday.  “It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large.”

On Friday, Rivera added to the suspense over the next chapter in his decades-long career, tweeting about remarks that he made on Fox News host Brian Kilmeade’s radio show that he’ll announce his plans on Friday’s farewell appearance on “The Five” as well as on Twitter.

He also posted a shirtless picture of himself, an “80 year old contemplating retirement” seeming to leave open the possibility that he could just call it quits.

If Geraldo was looking for suggestions, Twitter users had plenty.

Rivera also responded to a Twitter user over his potential retirement, “That is really the $64 question. I am 80 and I’ve been doing this for 52 years. The problem with retiring though is my restless energy when it concerns issues important to the American people. I feel the need to speak out, as long as some people want to listen.”
