The release of Jake Tapper’s Original Sin isn’t just putting the cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline in the spotlight, it’s revealing old feuds.
CNN’s Tapper has denied that he tried to reach out to Hunter Biden as his brother, Beau, was dying in 2015, but an exclusive interview with Breaker indicates that Hunter remembers that time period quite differently.
“It would be impossible to forget or misremember something that upsetting and out of line during one of the toughest moments of my life. It happened. I was furious,” the president’s son said.
According to sources close to the Bidens, Tapper tried to reach out to Hunter multiple times while Beau spent his last days at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, even trying to get in touch after he had been blocked.
“Go f**k yourself, Jake,” Hunter had reportedly messaged the journalist at the time.
In another instance, the two met at the 2018 Super Bowl, where Tapper reportedly extended his hand in greeting. In return, Hunter warned that he would knock Tapper out if they weren’t in public. The CNN host reportedly demanded an apology from the president for his son’s boorish behavior.
Speaking to Breaker, Tapper admitted that Hunter confronted him at the time but claimed it was for a different reason entirely.
“Hunter did once confront me at a Super Bowl party, but it was over an unrelated issue – coverage he wrongly believed I had done regarding divorce allegations of drug use and using prostitutes, which I actually had never done.”
A spokesperson defended the journalist from the allegations as well.
“The idea that Jake could do something so heartless – and yet the Bidens would subsequently offer him multiple sit-down interviews as well as agree to him moderating the debate, all without anyone hearing about it until now – completely defies logic,” Breaker reported.
But sources claimed at the time that the source of Hunter’s anger was obvious.
“It was obviously transparent niceties and then right to business as if the one thing Hunter is thinking about as Beau is dying is let me give Jake Tapper an exclusive,” one source explained to the outlet. “He was furious about it.”
