‘Go, Louisiana!’ Child predator will be fully castrated under state’s new law

A degenerative serial offender in Louisiana agreed to be physically and chemically castrated as part of a plea deal, after being charged with attempted first-degree rape of a child under the age of 13.

Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, pleaded guilty to the charge, agreeing to serve 40 years in state prison, KPLC reported, citing the Vernon Parish District Attorney’s Office. Louisiana’s surgical castration law went into effect in August 2024.

McCartney was caught sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl, when a woman walked in on him “engaging in sexual contact” with her child, according to authorities — he was a Tier 3 sex offender in the state at the time, having been convicted of attempted aggravated rape in 2011, which followed a 2010 arrest for the aggravated rape of a 12-year-old, and a 2006 arrest on one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

“This is a horrific crime that never should have happened. Thomas McCartney is a predator that needs to be locked away from others in our community,” Vernon Parish District Attorney Terry Lambright said in a statement.

U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) cheered his nearby neighbor for its actions, posting on X: “Go Louisiana!”
