Eleven people are lucky to be alive, thanks to fast-acting U.S. military members and God Almighty.
The small aircraft was en route to Grand Bahama when one of the engines reportedly failed, and the plane lost contact with air traffic control.
The pilot was able to land the plane in the water and evacuate passengers onto a life raft. But it was a “race against time” as a U.S. chopper, which just happened to be nearby for training, reportedly only had about five minutes’ worth of fuel as thunderstorms quickly approached.
Personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast out of Miami sprang into action in “winds and choppy waters,” and were able to rescue all 11 just in time.
One woman who was saved said she was praying to the Lord for someone to see and save them, as many of the eleven on the life raft didn’t know how to swim.
She said she feared for their lives and had been on the water for five hours and could see nothing but “black water.”
