A good guy with a gun stopped a man armed with a box cutter from robbing a Michigan minimart and did it with one hand.
The reason the customer only used one hand to shoot the masked crook is that his other hand was preoccupied with carrying a six-pack of Miller Lite beer.
Cordelius Anthony Martin, 35, is seen on video trying to rob the store last month and that’s when the unidentified customer, who reportedly had a valid concealed carry permit, sprung into action firing multiple shots at the suspect and striking him in the arm, back and face.
“You know why I’m here,” Martin informed the clerk, according to police reports.
The customer held the man at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived — the man told police he couldn’t see what was in the robber’s hand but saw the look of fear on the clerk’s face, according to WOOD-TV.
The good Samaritan is still waiting to see if he will face charges for his actions.
The local prosecutor is waiting for police to finish the investigation before deciding whether he will file criminal charges, WOOD-TV reported.
“In Michigan, obviously, we do have defense of others as part of the law in Michigan, that you can defend others if they’re in a situation that there’s dangerous force being used against them,” Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz said. “And certainly in this case, we’ll be looking at the facts in regard to that.”
While some were impressed with the man remaining “cool under pressure,” the fear of being charged is what prevents many people from getting involved in troubling incidents.
