GOP candidate explains saying AG Garland ‘probably should be executed’ as facetious

A GOP congressional candidate from New York has gone viral among the establishment left for having facetiously called for Attorney General Merrick Garland to be executed.

During a Breitbart interview that was published last weekend, House candidate Carl Paladino, 75, went off about Garland’s decision to authorize the FBI’s infamous raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property.

“So we have a couple of unelected people who are running our government, in an administration of people like Garland, who should be not only impeached, he probably should be executed,” he said.

“The guy is just lost. He’s a lost soul. He’s trying to get an image, and his image, his methodology is just terrible. To raid the home of a former president is just — people are scratching their heads and they’re saying, ‘What is wrong with this guy.'”

He probably shouldn’t have said that.

However, later during the same interview, Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle pressed him on what he’d meant about executing Garland.

“I’m just being facetious. The man should be removed from office. He shows his incompetence. He wants to get his face in front of the people and show he’s got some mettle to him, but his choice of issues and choice of methodology is very sad,” Paladino replied.

His spokesperson later reiterated this refrain in a statement to The Buffalo News.

“The comment is clear: Carl does not think Garland should be executed and when you listen to the interview, when asked what he meant, he stated he was being facetious,” the spokesperson said.

His facetious remarks have, nevertheless, since gone uber-viral among the left, who are now predictably using them to smear all conservatives as crazies.

Look:

In fairness to the left, Paladino is himself a bit out there.

“In Feb. 2021, he praised Adolf Hitler as “the kind of leader we need today.” On social media, Paladino boosted posts claiming that the Buffalo and Uvalde mass shootings were false-flag attacks. In July, he hired a man convicted on child pornography-related charges as his new assistant treasurer,” according to Rolling Stone magazine.

But there’s more.

“In a 2016 Artvoice article, Paladino, when he was a member of the Buffalo School Board, referred to Michelle Obama as a man and said he would like her to be ‘let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla,'” according to The Buffalo news.

Also, during a 2015 rally, “he scorned the ‘damn Asians’ and other ‘foreigners’ at University at Buffalo and other state colleges.”

So he’s got a habit of running his mouth. But so do leftists. Except that when leftists run their mouths, nobody seems to notice.

For instance, last week left-wing Financial Times columnist Edward Luce tweeted, “I’ve covered extremism and violent ideologies around the world over my career. Have never come across a political force more nihilistic, dangerous & contemptible than today’s Republicans. Nothing close.”

Look:

Keep in mind he tweeted this in a world brimming with cartels and terrorist organizations that take pleasure in torturing people to death.

Afterward, former W. Bush-era CIA Director Michael Hayden retweeted Luce’s tweet and added, “I agree. And I was the CIA Director.”

Look:

And so a major paper’s columnist and a former CIA director — two extremely high-profile leftists — both think Republicans are worse than terrorists.

Is this not just as batty as the things that Paladino has said? Yet these tweets have received zero attention from the establishment left, including the media.

Type Paladino’s name into Google, on the other hand, and you’ll be inundated with stories from Rolling Stone, MSNBC, MarketWatch, Spectrum News, Politico, Yahoo News, the Associated Press, etc.

This happens all the time: Leftists say abjectly crazy things, and then the media bury their remarks.

For example, this week notorious MSNBC bigot Tiffany Cross declared that a “civil war” has begun in the United States. She based this insane assertion on the few threats that the FBI has been receiving from angry Trump supporters.

“The train has left the station. There is no dealing with the rhetoric. At this point, we need to have serious conversations around preparing for actual violence. People keep saying a civil war is coming. I would say the civil war is here. And I don’t mean to be hyperbolic,” she said.

“We can look at what has happened in the past week alone since all this has happened. We’ve had two people try to declare war with FBI field offices. At this point, I don’t think we’re going to pack up our bags and go home and sing kumbaya.”

FYI, a civil war has not in fact erupted in the U.S. …
