Pouring cold water on the coronation of Vice President Kamala Harris, one lawmaker’s resolution made the case for impeachment over demonstrated “indifference” and “extraordinary incompetence.”
The Democratic Party’s attempt at a victory lap by rallying around Harris as the presumptive nominee to replace President Joe Biden on the ticket did not go unanswered. As many called for the commander-in-chief to resign entirely if he is no longer capable of running for office, Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles (R), for the second time, introduced articles of impeachment against the vice president for her failures as border czar and for allegedly covering for Biden’s “tragic cognitive decline.”
Politico’s Olivia Beavers shared portions of the text on X wherein the first article asserted guilt for “Willful Refusal to Uphold the Immigration Laws” and the second for “Breach of Public Trust.”
On the former, Ogles claimed the vice president “has willfully and systematically refused to uphold Federal immigration laws,” “has willfully prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice,” and “has demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration laws, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States.”

Having previously filed articles of impeachment on June 12, 2023, the second resolution included updates to the first and stated, “During her tenure as the designated border czar, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency ‘encountered’ nearly 302,000 illegal aliens at the southwest border in December 2023, the highest monthly total ever recorded and representing 4 consecutive months of over 240,000 illegal alien ‘encounters.'”
Ogles further went on to cite brutal and lethal attacks on Americans that included the rape and killing of Rachel Morin, the killing of Laken Riley, the sexual assault, torture, and killing of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray as well as other heinous acts.
Additionally, he raised fentanyl concerns and the more than 107,000 overdose deaths in the 12 months leading up to July 2022 alone.
“Regardless of where you’re at on the issue of immigration, we have a system that’s broken and as the border czar she was charged with fixing it,” the Tennessee lawmaker told the Washington Times.
The second article contended that the vice president was aware Biden was no longer able to fully execute his duties as president and asserted, “Kamala Devi Harris has knowingly misled the people of the United States and the Congress of the United States, principally to obfuscate the physical and cognitive well-being of the President of the United States, Joe Biden.”
The resolution argued that she failed to invoke the 25th Amendment, even as Biden withdrew from his campaign and has “refused to answer any questions regarding President Joe Biden’s tragic cognitive decline…”
Ogles’ articles weren’t the only rebuke of Harris as the House Rules Committee advanced a resolution from New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, chair of the House Republican Conference, condemning Harris over the border crisis.
“House Republicans will vote on my resolution to condemn Kamala Harris’ failure as Joe Biden’s border czar,” said Stefanik. “Kamala Harris’ failed leadership led to the most catastrophic open border crisis in history. Biden’s open border czar Kamala Harris, and every elected Democrat is responsible for this border crisis and they must all be held accountable for their role in jeopardizing our national security and turning every community into a border community.”

The Times went on to indicate that Ogles aimed to trigger a vote on impeaching Harris before the August recess, “but that timeline could be truncated because of issues with the slate of remaining spending bills.”
