U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) is calling for the defunding of the U.S. Secret Service after a boatload of inexplicable failures nearly led to the assassination of former President Donald J. Trump last weekend.
For reasons unknown, the people who were tasked with providing security for a man whom Joe Biden and the media have demonized as the second coming of Hitler and a prime target for a would-be assassin left a rooftop with a direct line of sight to the stage wide open during Trump’s rally in Butler, Pa. last Saturday.
With few answers from the administration or embattled DEI Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle, the Lone Star State lawmaker told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that it may be time to starve the agency until there is accountability.

“I am so upset as an American, so angry as an American, as a friend of Donald Trump, just as someone mourning for the poor Comperatore family which buried their father and their brother and their husband tonight,” Ingraham said, referring to Corey Comperatore who was killed while protecting his family at the rally.
“I couldn’t agree with you more,” the congressman responded. “I mean right now the president of the United States, the former president, and hopefully soon-to-be president of the United States Donald Trump, is alive not because of what Secret Service did, but because he providentially turned his head, that’s the truth. And the fact is the American people are sick of it.”
“They’re sick of Lloyd Austin still having a job after Afghanistan,” he said, referring to “the black man” who Biden put in charge of the Pentagon.
“Pete Buttigieg after derailments and you know, boats hitting in bridges,” he added, referring to the incompetent DEI hire picked to head up the Department of Transportation.
Roy continued, “They’re sick of an FBI, they’re sick of the intel community, all of these people keep their jobs, and now the Secret Service endangers the former president and the sitting Republican nominee and they’re acting like nothing happened.”
“They didn’t even have a drone flying. The guy who did it flew a drone,” Roy said, referring to a Wall Street Journal report that 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who had no social media footprint, used a drone to check out the Butler Farm Showgrounds hours before the failed assassination of Trump.
“It is absolutely unbelievable what we are seeing here,” the Republican lawmaker added. “But here’s the deal, we have to stop funding it. We have to stop giving these people jobs. We have to hold them accountable, and to your point, I’m glad Mike Johnson said we need one task force. We need to funnel it through one organized effort in the House.”
“We’re going to move quickly. I’ll be setting up, on Monday, a task force, a special task force within the House,” Speaker Johnson said of the GOP’s effort to get some answers. “And the reason we’re going to do it that way is because that is a more of a precision strike.”
The Secret Service has yet to explain how Crooks was able to nearly kill Trump and Cheatle has refused to resign nor has Biden asserted leadership by firing her.
