Tensions boiled over in the House when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) introduced a motion to vacate the chair to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, drawing a rebuke from some of her GOP colleagues.
Johnson’s caving in to Democrats on the $1.2 trillion “minibus” spending bill was the final straw for the fiery Georgian who was then chastised by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) who ripped her “big mistake” in a video posted to X on Friday.

“I consider Marjorie Taylor Greene to be my friend. She’s still my friend. But she just made a big mistake, you know, trying to vacate Mike Johnson,” Higgins began. “I totally oppose that. Listen, Mike is a very good man, man begins every day from the right place, he’s deeply principled, he’s like, he’s like a brother to me.”
“And to think that that one of our Republican colleagues would, would, would call for his ouster right now, it’s, it’s really, it’s abhorrent to me and I oppose it,” he continued. “I stand with Mike Johnson. He is maybe the only guy in history that could potentially perform and help us navigate through these very dark and challenging times when he has to deal with a one-vote majority in the House of Representatives, he’s got a Democrat-controlled Senate and a weaponized, Democrat-controlled White House.”
“You got one guy that can deal with that, you know who it is? My brother, Mike Johnson. I stand with Mike, and I expect my colleagues to unanimously oppose this big mistake that we presented today,” he said of his fellow Louisiana Republican.
“But again, a lady that I consider a friend, sometimes friends makes mistakes, in this case, Marjorie has made a big mistake. I stand with Mike Johnson,” the congressman concluded.
Higgins’ scolding of MTG wasn’t well received by other X users.
Sure let’s support Mike Johnson as he works with Democrats to continue destroying the country

I’m sorry, but I’m not supporting Democrat-Lite Speakers

No sir. Very good men do not fund the evil in that bill.

Clay, I love you but I am sorry, Johnson did not have to put this bill forward. The gov would have gone into partial shut down tomorrow. You would have gone on a 2 week vacation and came back with *some* leverage to negotiate.
I have been a defender of Johnson, when very few…

If he was principled, he would have given the requested 72 hours for members of Congress to review this bill. If he was principled, he wouldn’t have advocated this bill and let it pass.

I have ZERO sympathy for Mike Johnson and the rest of you idiots in the Republican Congress. All you do is cave to the democrats. Each and every one of you house republicans deserves to be voted out at this point. I will never vote Republican for Congress again. I’ll vote keep…

With all due respect, sir, we are hurting, especially here in Louisiana. Why is there no funding or help for us? Why do we have billions and billions of dollars to give away to other countries but there’s never anything to help our own people? We’re frustrated and rightly so.

Mike Johnson just funded the butchering of more children, please tell me how that’s a man of faith and Principle,Clay Higgins? Children are being sex trafficked and are missing at the border, how is that a good man who just funded more of those evils? Get off your Washington…

Sorry Clay, I always side with you but not on this… Mike Johnson is more Democrat than Republican, he has betrayed the American people.. He could have closed the government down to close our border but he refused… Mike is a traitor to Americans.

“No Republican in good conscience can vote for the uniparty minibus. This is not a Republican bill. It is a Chuck Schumer, Democrat-controlled bill coming from the “Republican-controlled” House,” Greene said on X prior to the motion to vacate. “The Speaker of the House should not bring it to the floor.”
