Gutfeld blasts Dems’ opposition to parental rights bill: ‘It has become the party of Karens’

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld argued on Friday that the modern Democrat Party has become the party of so-called “Karens,” whereas the modern Republican Party has become the party of parents.

Gutfeld offered the comparisons during a discussion on Fox News’s “The Five” about congressional Democrats’ hysterical opposition to the GOP’s parental rights bill.

Listen:

He began by noting how Democrats and their media allies had last year tried to portray dissenting parents as domestic terrorists.

“Parents went to the school boards to have a conversation and what happened? The FBI opened a probe on them, and then you know what happened after that? Nothing. There was zero evidence of a legitimate threat. Was that reported on in the media? Only at Fox. House Republicans did it,” he said.

He continued by noting how, after accusing parents of being domestic terrorists, Democrats and their media allies abruptly dropped the attack line and started acting as if nothing happened.

“The media didn’t bother to follow up on these threats. They didn’t try to find out who these domestic terrorists were – God forbid they wanted to get between their teachers and their kids,” he said.

“Do not fall for the big lie about privacy. Grab your kids when a liberal activist says we’re concerned about a child’s privacy because what they’re saying is they’re trying to get between you and your child. There is no privacy, right? Children are children, right? Parents are in control of their privacy. They have to look out for them. Don’t pretend that a 4-year-old is this independent being with its own privacy,” he added.

Concluding his thoughts, Gutfeld then got to his theory that Democrats are the party of annoying, nosy, patronizing “Karens.”

“All right, so here’s the deal: There is zero evidence at all that there’s any kind of threat, but they painted parents as domestic terrorists. They got away with that, right? We can’t let it happen again. The Republican Party is becoming the party for parents. The Democratic Party is becoming the party of the unhappy, single female activist. It has become the party of Karens,” he said.

“The Republicans are now the party of couples and children, and now they’re being demonized because they actually give a damn, because they’re going to show up, because they’re going to talk about it,” he added.

His remarks came on the same day that the House successfully voted to pass the GOP’s Parents Bill of Rights Act thanks entirely to Republicans, as not a single Democrat supported the legislation.

Every Democrat down-voted the legislation despite it doing nothing more than ensuring that parents have access to crucial information about what their children are being exposed to in schools.

The legislation specifically does the following:

  • Gives parents the right to know what’s being taught at their children’s schools.
  • Grants parents permission to see the schools’ budgets so they’re aware of how money is being spent.
  • Allows parents to protect their children’s privacy by preventing schools from selling their personal information or performing medical exams without parental permission.
  • Offers parents updates on violent activities that have occurred at their children’s schools.
  • Requires schools’ curriculums to be made public.
  • Requires elementary and middle schools that receive federal funding to obtain the parents’ permission before “changing a minor child’s gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form; or allowing a child to change the child’s sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms.”

That’s it.

Yet Rep. Maxwell Frost warned that passage of the bill would lead to “hate, bigotry, and even death.” How? Nobody knows.

Meanwhile, the bill’s been called “fascism” by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“This Republican bill is asking the government to force the outing of LGBT people before they are ready. When we talk about progressive values, I can say what my progressive value is, and that is freedom over fascism,” she said on the House floor Friday.

Listen:

Fact-check: FALSE.

“The bill does not address a student’s identity or statements, but is solely focused on notifying parents about actions taken by school personnel to act on a gender transition, such as changing pronouns or switching locker rooms,” Rep. Virginia Foxx told Fox News.

Unfortunately, the truth doesn’t appear to matter to Democrats. It seems they’d rather rely on blatant lies to drum up opposition to the bill rather than address what’s actually in the bill.

Speaking of what’s actually in the bill, below are clips showing several Republicans explaining why they supported it:
