Ahead of Sunday’s big game, where the New England Patriots would face the Seattle Seahawks, six-time Pro Bowler Eric Dickerson remained none too pleased with his former league’s choice for entertainment. Speaking with TMZ Sports at the airport, he asserted that the decision to run with cross-dressing rapper Bad Bunny proved, “they’ll do anything for money.”
“Look, why can’t we get somebody from right here, from home? How about someone from right here in San Francisco, all these artists right here in the area, to play at the Super Bowl? Somebody [who speaks] English, you know?” said Dickerson as many had wondered why Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Metallica hadn’t been tapped to appeal to football fans.
“I just don’t. I don’t see why they chose that. The NFL does stuff that baffles your mind,” the former player went on. “So, they’ll do anything for money. I thank God I had a chance to play in the National Football League.”
“But as an entity, the NFL is one of the most corrupt organizations, it is,” added Dickerson, who’d previously told TMZ, “I love my country. And if you don’t like the United States, just get your a** out of here and don’t come over here.”
The running back, whose career had taken him from the Los Angeles Rams to the Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Raiders, and Atlanta Falcons, had also questioned the Rooney Rule’s effectiveness, regarding required interviews for non-white candidates to fill coaching and senior operations roles, before calling Bill Belichick’s snub by the Hall of Fame a “farce.”
Included among those suggesting Metallica would appeal more to audiences, Kid Rock had posited the idea during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” ahead of his own Turning Point USA-run alternative halftime show featuring Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.

Meanwhile, as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested, President Donald Trump “would much prefer a Kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hadn’t backed down from supporting the halftime pick.
“Listen, Bad Bunny is, and I think that was demonstrated last night, one of the great artists in the world and that’s one of the reasons we chose him,” said Goodell following the Grammy Awards. “But the other reason is he understood the platform he was on and this platform is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talents and to be able to use this moment to do that and I think artists in the past have done that.”
Meanwhile, sports reporter Cayden Kubler shared a video asking NFL players what their favorite Bad Bunny song was, only to get laughs, assurances they don’t listen to his music, and one even referring to the rapper as “she.”
