Former Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly found a sympathetic shoulder to cry on after her stinging election loss to President Donald Trump.
Harris has reportedly turned to Hillary Clinton for advice as the former secretary of state shares her status as a failed Democrat presidential nominee who lost the race to Trump.
“Not long after the election, Harris privately began talking with family, longtime friends, and her most devoted aides about the path ahead,” according to New York Magazine.
“In her final weeks as VP, as Harris heard unsolicited advice from donors, she reached out to some carefully selected allies to hear their thoughts, too. Among them was Hillary Clinton, the other would-be first woman president who lost to Trump and who also famously wrestled with how to manage life after her campaign,” the outlet reported.
The two have grown close over the years and the magazine noted that since the election loss in November, they “have spoken on multiple occasions about their exceedingly rare shared experience and about how to think through the future.”
Harris reportedly attended a private party at Clinton’s home in December after the former secretary of State was awarded the Medal of Freedom by then-President Joe Biden. Both sat behind Trump as he was inaugurated and delivered his address.
The former VP has not given any clear indications about her future plans – political or otherwise. Speculation has circulated about whether she would run for president again or if she would make a bid to be governor of her home state of California. Some wonder if she may opt to stay out of politics and move on with her life.
“The outcome of this election was not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for,” Harris said in her concession speech. “But hear me when I say the light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.”
“Do not despair. This is not a time to throw up our hands. This is a time to roll up our sleeves. This is a time to organize, to mobilize and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice and the future that we all know we can build together,” Harris continued.
Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were quick to endorse Harris when she took over the top of the Democrat ticket following Biden’s announcement that he was suspending his reelection campaign.
“Kamala has the character, experience, and vision to lead us forward. I know her heart and her integrity,” Clinton had said at the 2024 Democratic National Convention. “On the other side of that glass ceiling is Kamala Harris raising her hand and taking the oath of office as our 47th President of the United States. Because my friends, when a barrier falls for one of us, it falls, it falls and clears the way for all of us. ”
The reported connection between the two and Harris seeking advice from a fellow defeated nominee sparked many reactions on social media.
So basically a loser is asking for advice from another loser.
